Dear Qur’an friends, in our previous lesson we reached 62nd verse of Maida chapter. Including the 62nd verse we studied some negative approaches of the people of the book to their own books and we were advised not to do the same mistakes as them.
People of the Book or specifically Jews and how they turned their back to celestial message which was entrusted with them in first place, Qur’an explained these by those verses and said, “You see them racing for sin, aggression and wrecking values.” The verse ended with this sentence, “How wretched what they do.”
So today, by the 63rd verse we are given the answer for the question of “Why did they betray the celestial message that were entrusted with, why did they fall into such social dissolution and corruption. The answer is given by the 63rd verse here.
63-) Levla yenhahumur rabbaniyyune vel ahbaru an kavlihimul’ isme ve eklihimus suht* le bi’se ma kanu yasne’un;
Why do the rabbis and the scholars (those with knowledge and wisdom) not prevent them from saying offensive things about Allah and from consuming what has been forbidden… How wretched is what they do and produce! (A.Hulusi)
Why do not the rabbis and the doctors of Law forbid them from their (habit of) uttering sinful words and eating things forbidden? Evil indeed are their works. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Levla yenhahumur rabbaniyyune vel ahbaru an kavlihimul’ isme ve eklihimus suht Why do not the rabbis and the doctors of law forbid them from their (habit of) uttering sinful words and eating things forbidden? Why does a society becomes a foreigner to itself, become violent to Allah, the answer of these questions is this. Because to scholars and entitled religious figures wouldn’t do their job. If a religion expert whether he’s a rabbi, priest or imam, becomes corrupted, whole community will surely follow them at some point and be like them. This verse indicates that these figures have a vital role in society both positive and negative aspect depends on their actions.
We don’t need to look further back milleniums to find an example. You can look a single society and its leader to find out the resemblence of their actions. That’s why if scholars, leaders, and head figures make a wrong, there will always be thousands to follow that wrong.
If these people, leaders, scholars, examplary people do womething right, people who follow their footsteps will surely open a path to truth and prosperity. This is valid for every single society. That’s why Rasulallah said this, “If these two groups become corrupted, whole community becomes corrpted as well, Umera and Ulema (Leaders and Scholars) If these groups be straight, so does the community. They are the head of the marching band. le bi’se ma kanu yasne’un; Evil indeed are their works.
64-) Ve kaletil yahudu yedullahi magluletun, gullet eydiyhim ve lu’inu Bi ma kalu* bel yedahu mebsutatani yunfiku keyfe yesha’* ve leyeziydenne kesiyren minhum ma unzile ileyke min Rabbike tugyanen ve kufra* ve elkayna beynehumul ‘adavete velbagdae ila yevmil kiyameti, kullema evkadu naren lil harbi atfeehAllahu ve yes’avne fiyl Ardi fesaden, vAllahu la yuhibbul mufsidiyn;
The Jews said, “The hands of Allah are tied”… Their claim became true about themselves; their hands were tied and they became cursed! On the contrary, both of Allah’s hands are open; He continues to provide as He wills! Indeed, what has been revealed to you from your Rabb increases denial and transgression in most of them! We have cast between them animosity and hatred that will last until the Doomsday period! Whenever they kindled a fire of war, Allah extinguished it… (Yet still) they run to causing corruption on earth… Allah does not like those who run towards corrupting faith. (A.Hulusi)
The Jews say: “Allah’s hand is tied up.” Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Ve kaletil yahudu yedullahi magluletun, The Jews said, “The hands of Allah are tied”. gullet eydiyhim ve lu’inu Bi ma kalu Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the blasphemy they utter.
Actually they meant to say, “Allah is stingy.” Tight hands is a reference for that. Especially the Madina Jews who lived the same era with Rasulallah had said these when they slandered Allah with close handness. “If He is generous, you believers wouldn’t have died with poverty.” By these verses had arrived you know, almost all believers were in poor conditions financially.
Mother Aisha once said, “I never eat date fruit without counting until the conquest of Hayber.” She also said, “There were times in Rasulallah’s home the oven wasn’t lit for three months.”
Think about it, Rasulallah, the leader of a community where the commitment to him reached to a point people sacrifice their own parents for, he lived like that so imagine the financial standards of that community.
So by using this excuse, sons of Israel who became Jewminded were slandering Allah. Actually their base logic wasn’t in the right place. Thinking being powerful is the same thing as being right. Their logic was like, “If you were right, you would be powerful. So since you don’t have any power, any wealth, any possessions, you cannot be right at all.” In their logic, power and truth stand together.
This logic is the definition of Jewish logic. A person who sees the world with this logic, who evaluates people, communities, events and history with this logic, accepts a Jewisch mentality in his head. Power doesn’t necessarily be with the ones of Truth. But being powerless doesn’t always mean being wrong. History proves this fact countless times. Power has been mostly handed to tyrants and with that they oppressed the truth bearers. They usually used their powers for bad.
That’s why if the rightful possess the power then the truth becomes powerful as well. That’s right but those who possess the power unrightfully has no right to defend the truth with that power. Also true. So taking power as a defining attribute is a Jewish approach and that’s how Madina Jews were looking to Rasulallah. They were saying, “If you were on truth as you claim, then Allah would support you and you should be more powerful. And if Allah’s support is with you you should be powerful enough to rule the world. You would be the ultimate leaders.”
Can you imagine the wretchedness of this logic? Can you explain prophet Abraham’s situation against Nimrod with this logic? Nimrod was powerful, Abraham was weak, alone. But was it though? If you look from the goggles of Jews, it would seem like this for sure. But if you look where Allah tells you to look, Abraham was definitely in power.
Isn’t that the truth? Abraham was so powerful by faith, he stood against the community he lived in, all the Powers of all the people. He had so much power. For just one second, place nimrod in shoes of Abraham, and place Abraham to Nimrod’s position. You can immediately realize the excessive power gap. You can also see clearly who had more power between them. Nimrods power diminished by time, crumbled but Abraham’s power still with us after at least 5000 years.
That crying he made to heavens still pulls millions of people to Kaaba with tears, this is the real power, this is the power of faith.
Also if you look at power perspective, you should pity Moses and give credit to pharaoh, right? If you say, who has the power has the right, you should find Moses wrong, Abraham wrong, Muhammad wrong, you should find almost every right person wrong. But are they really? If you look from that perspective,sure. But if you redifine power from the origin of Hakk path, then your entire point of view changes. Those cries of Moses, his prayings shook the heavens and their echos have been and will be heard and followed by Muhammad, Jesus, Zachariah, Jehova and all their followers until the judgement day.
That’s why this power and right are the same logic is a Jewish logic. Not a muslim way and Qur’an shows us this Jewish logic with these verses and saying;
gullet eydiyhim ve lu’inu Bi ma kalu their hands were tied and they became cursed. Meaning is this, not all Jew society was cursed, not all sons of Israel and all people in their community were cursed. No, people who say these words, do these deeds are the ones that cursed.
First of all, the personal nature of a crime is crucial, you cannot generalise it. In this sense no community has been cursed entirely. This is the promise of Rasulallah. “Allah never cursed an entire society or membership of a community.” This is to prevent any wrongful understandings.
These people who commit this crime are the ones who met the curse. But in general the logic itself is the center of this curse. So naturally everyone who carries this logic, enters the vicinity of this curse, this celestial throwing out. Qur’an says this too; La yegurrenneke tekallubulleziyne keferu fiyl bilad; (Alu Imran/196)
By addressing the prophet, all true believers recieve this message, “Those who resist on denial, who stuck on denial, who reject the truth; it shouldn’t surprise you to see them walk the earth having the entire luxury of earth. It shouldn’t make you envious.” As in there’s nothing to envy over this.
This is rather important because it’s a perspective that isn’t influenced by earth. Metaun galilun,why not? Because it’s a temporary pleasure. Very temporary in fact. summe me’vahum cehennem their houses shall be in hell. This will be their final destination. ve bi’sel mihad; (Alu Imran/197) And what a wretched destination it is.
There are people who are waiting an ending like this, can you imagine? It’s like a death sentenced criminal playing in amusement park right before his execution. And you know his ending, you see it. You really think you can envy his joy on a ride, or on a table well prepared, you really wish to be him if you know he will meet his doom shorty after that? This is a more impactful example than this. Allah’s example is far more dreadful than this.
bel yedahu mebsutatan On the contrary, Allah’s hands are opened. Allah is infinitely generous. Allah is Ganiyyun mustean’ Doesn’t need anything and relieves everyones in need. Allah possesses all wealth. yunfiku keyfe yesha Allah gives these blessings to whoever He wishes. Allah tests some people by giving and some people by taking. Some people are punished by having wealth and some are rewarded by not having it. It’s not something that a person who possesses an earthy logic. You can grasp the wisdom of it, if only you manage to look the picture from where Allah tells you to look from.
You shouldn’t ask, how can one be rewarded by losing and punished by gaining? Wealth can easily be turned to disaster. A golden gun you give as a present can be of great value. But if that gun is used as a weapon against its owner, can you really count it as a present of the weapon of his calamity?
Wealth is a two edged knife. Like a sharp sword. You can cut things with both sides. That’s why a wealth can turn into something disasterous if not properly used. If Allah takes away things from someone doesn’t necessarily means a negative response. It can very well be positive. One can easily be blessed by taking things from them. If a person is destined to use a wealth he gain for his doom, it’s only natural to take away from him the wealth to prevent such a calamity over him. Both like we said before, some are tested by earning and some by losing. Joy to people who win the test either by having or losing.
Which reminds me this incident in Hayber March. A man named Abu Abs had come to Rasulallah before the march. He had a very old dress on him. Rasulallah looked at him and asked, “Don’t you have anything else to wear?” The dress was tattered, his skin was exposed. “No, Rasulallah.” He replied. “And I couldn’t left any food to my children either.”
Rasulallah had only one dress in his possessions back then, a new, fresh one. He gave it to Abu Abs. “Take this.” He said and Abu Abs took it. After a while when the army was ready to march Rasulallah saw him again but the dress he had given him wasn’t there. Another clothing, something older and used he was wearing. So Rasulallah asked;
“Don’t you wear that dress?”
“O Rasulallah how could I wear it. I sold it to 8 gold. I bought this dress for 4 golds. 2 golds I left to my childrens food and 2 I used for my battle rations.
There was a saying of Rasulallah.
“The future of you will be more wealthier that today. One day all earths treasures will be opened to you. But that day won’t be good for you. “Alas, it won’t be a good day to you at all.”
Abu Abs lived long enough to see those days and confirmed Rasulallah, saying “Yes, indeed it wasn’t really be good for us.”
There’s a hadith accepted by the entire hadith records, all knowledge of hadith accepts this particular sentence. It’s like this.
“I don’t fear that my community will someday pray to idols again. My fear is my communities becoming earthbound people, becoming shackled to possessions, money and wealth. Glorifying the earth and making it the priority.”
Rasulallah had warned us about this danger from the beginning. So if you ask what is the greatest danger fort his community? It’s becoming Jewminded, particularly earthminded. Because sons of Israel who were muslims once became Jewminded just like that.
ve leyeziydenne kesiyren minhum ma unzile ileyke min Rabbike tugyanen ve kufra Passage now talks about a specific group or mentality in this case. Who are they? Usually people of the book but if we look more focused the targeted group is sons of Israel who became Jewminded. But for generalization purposes the passage addresses to all of us. It’s not just about them, it’s about us too. What given to them by their Rabb will raise their arrogance and denial. As in you may have little right now but in time the blessings and wealth which will be given to you will also raise their potantial of arrogance.
This arrogance is obvious even now. It’s like Allah is testing you with not giving and for that they say, “Allah has tight hand, Allah is stingy. So will they really be happy when Allah begin to give you? Will they accept you then? Those people now looking at you and find you weak, will they really find you rightful when you reach the power? No, this is typical Jewish logic. It’s never consistent. That means when you get to power in future, nothing will change. Tomorrow you will be strong but they will look at you the same way. They never accept your truth just because you are strong.
So we can deduce this lesson from this passage. The behaviours of a warped logic is not about you being powerful or not. It’s about their stand for the truth. It’s about their crooked mentality. Because with that perspective nothing seems right for that person. That’s why we shouldn’t organize our logic with this twisted and warped Jewish logic. As in we shouldn’t act with instinctive reactions. You submit to Allah and walk on the path that Allah drew for you.
Even if you adjust your perspective to them, they will always give you an excuse not to believe in you. This is the truth that wants to be told here. Moving on.
ve elkayna beynehumul ‘adavete velbagdae ila yevmil kiyame We have cast between them animosity and hatred that will last until the Doomsday period.
Dear Qur’an friends, this mentioned warped logic naturally brings a warped sensibility to the person possessed it and they take hatred as their religion. That’s why this is the most typical behaviour of sons of Israel who became Jewminded. They have been cast animosity and hatred among them. They are cursed with an unending hatred and vindiction.
All the reactions that Allah gives to Himself are the consequences of peoples actions. People want something and Allah reacts accordingly. Allah never gives a reaction unbound from the mans action. So taking over the reaction for His own name is the reason of union mentality. Because the faith of “Nothing can happen without Allah” has this requirement. So, to understand the depths of this verse, it’s enought to now the history of Jewish communities. Casting hatred seeds among them.
They had lived their golden era until Solomon’s reign. By the time of kingdoms, sons of Israel civilization was on rising and when the Solomon’s time arrived they lived they reached the peak of their existences. But after Solomon, the land of Israelia divided into two pieces. Jew and Israeli. And just like this verse indicates, the history begin to repeat itself so constantly and specific.
Jew nation made an alliance with Babylon, the heathen Babylon and marched against Israeli, as in they made a pact with enemies to destroy their own brothers and religion friends. They destroyed the country which Solomon and David had built. They ture down the temple of Solomon, their own prophet with their own hands. Not only they made alliance with their enemies, they almost reached to a point of licking their boots. They were in such a degradation.
So will they succeed then?This happened sixth century BC. But after just 200 years, the land of Jew was obliterated by Assyrians, they were forced to a mass immigration. They were taken to the lands of Iraq as today. By centuries they lived there. Only after Persians conquered the lands of Assyria they managed to return their home lands, that was centuries after.
What happened after that? The land became so corrupted by their actions their religion became hatred and vindiction again until the reign of Titus of Rome. The annihilation was so intense, they couldn’t recover it from almost 2000 years. They ran away from their lands again and their infamous diaspora began. The longing of 2000 years of home developed after this process. A queen made their famous temple a garbage disposal area, the queen of Byzantine. It was the muslims again who remove that dumpsite and rebuild the temple of Solomon and made it one of the temple of Allah again, this could only be possible during the time of Caliph Omar after the conquest of Jerusalem.
That’s why their situations in Madina are explained here, firstly to Rasulallah and Muslims, what is the origin of this hostility of Madina Jews, this is the nature of things. The truth is explain here to inform us that this is their history. Their evil doings are nothing new, this has been going from the beginning of their history.
kullema evkadu naren lil harbi atfeehAllah Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah does extinguish it; yes’avne fiyl Ardi fesaden. but they always strive to do mischief on earth.
It’s horrible. They really work so hard to create corrption and mischief on earth. Yes, they do. Very interesting but why? It comes from the idea not believing what’s bad for them is also bad for entire humanity. More than that, it’s the instinct of having power over all creation. As in our purpose of living is to rule over all humans, this is the reason of our existences.
This is indexing your life purpose, your reason of existence into an arrogant hubris, a super ego. That’s why in jewish tradition the word goiym has two meanings. One is stranger, outsider and the other is person whom making all kinds of evil onto him is justifiable. Like this. They say, you shouldn’t take usury from your brother. This is from Tora. But from a stranger? No, you can do everything to a stranger.
The corruption of truth reaches to this point. This corruption comes from the false assumption of considering themselves as chosen people of Allah. We people are the friends that Allah chose. Others are our servants. It’s like this. They ties this ideology to a verse in Tora. They will be your servants, those communities will kiss your feet. They will tie your shoes for you. This is the logic. So when you have this kind of sick ideology, it’s only natural to see every kinds of evil done to outsiders. You see it justified. But remember how Rasulallah treated the Jews who had this mentality. Remember.
They betrayed their treaty, Ben-i Nadir Jews, and for their actions they were banished, but some of them had debts to collect from Madina Muslims. Because they had given money to Madina Muslims before, even from the times of ignorance there were debts with usury.
Rasulallah said, if you want to take your debts before your time now, you should make discount and shall take some right now. From this day, you may come to Madina and stay here from a limited time, if a single coin left for you to collect, I’m a witness for you. When Rasulallah died his armor was with Abu Shahm as pawned, he had traded it for wheata while back. Although when Rasulallah had died Islam lands reached to a point as large as Western Europe. That was Rasulallah’s behaviour.
For his behaviour during the conquest of Hayber, the leaders of Hayber Jews couldn’t hold themselves from saying this for Rasulallah’s justice. – Bi haza kamissemevati vel ard. As in heavens and earth stand on this justice. They had to say this for their enemy Rasulallah.
vAllahu la yuhibbul mufsidiyn; Allah doesn’t like who cause corruption and mischief.
Remember dear friends, here are things we cannot consider coincidences. Marx was a child of Jewish mother. There are others who follow this path. Of course being born from Jewish parents doesn’t mean you are born evil from the start. Like I said with Rasulallah’s words, no community has been cursed for all its generations. Cursed community doesn’t exists, cursed mentality does. The logic is cursed and if you accept that logic, you become cursed too. Incidently Jews are the ones who represent the ideology of becoming Jewminded to its peak. And interestingly people like Marx and other Jews were the ones who create these broken and mischievous ideologies one earth.
65-) Ve lev enne ehlel Kitabi amenu vettekav lekefferna anhum seyyiatihim ve leedhalnahum cennatin naiym;
Had those, to whom the knowledge of the reality came, believed (evaluated this knowledge) and protected themselves (from shirq; duality) We would surely have erased their bad deeds and placed them in Paradises of Naim (a state in which the forces pertaining to Allah become manifest). (A.Hulusi)
If only the People of the Book had believed and been righteous, We should indeed have blotted out their iniquities and admitted them to Gardens of Bliss. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Ve lev enne ehlel Kitabi amenu vettekav If only the People of the Book had believed. The belief here, what should they believe? If they believed their books, does this include Qur’an too? Actually if they sincerely believed their own books, that sincerity should lead them to believe in Qur’an too. We witness that those who believe in their own values finally reaches to a point where they show faith to Qur’an and Rasul too, like Abdullah Bin Selam. That’s why if only the People of the Book had believed and been righteous,
lekefferna anhum seyyiatihim ve leedhalnahum cennatin naiym We would surely have erased their bad deeds and placed them in Paradises of Naim (Bliss) Our Rabb, our Rabb of All Worlds, Allah says this, all blessings are divided equal to humanity. As in whatever crime you committed, the door of repetance is always open whether you are a muslim, jew, christian or anything else. This is clear. The things you had done won’t be used as a rope around your neck forever, you can be forgiven.
That’s why this is like a call for forgiveness. A general amnesty. If remorse is the source of repetance this is the opportunity of taking the advantage in general amnesty.
66-) Ve lev ennehum ekamut Tevrate vel Inciyle ve ma unzile ileyhim min Rabbihim leekelu min fevkihim ve min tahti erculihim* minhum ummetun muktesideh* ve kesiyrun minhum sae ma ya’melun;
Had they evaluated and applied the requirements of the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to them from their Rabb, they would surely have enjoyed the blessings from above and below (spiritual and material provisions)! Among them are some who are on the just course (give everything its due right) but the majority of them are engaged in wretched deeds! (A.Hulusi)
If only they had stood fast by the Torah, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have (enjoyed) eating both from above them and from below their feet. There is from among them a party on the right course: but many of them follow a course that is evil. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Ve lev ennehum ekamut Tevrate vel Inciyle ve ma unzile ileyhim min Rabbihim If only they had stood fast by the Torah, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, leekelu min fevkihim ve min tahti erculihim they would have enjoyed eating both from above them and from below their feet.
Another interesting question comes to minds now. If only they had stood fast by the Torah, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord… We can take this sentence as putting the celestial texts into their lives, acting on their directions. We can also ask this question. What Qur’an is mentioned here on Tora and Bible and such; are we talking about the original Tora and Bible or the books on their hands now, the corrupted texts of Tora and Bible. This is an important question too.
First of all, yes. It is said, “If they followd Tora and Bible.” But the verb is a past tense as in not for the day these verses arrived but to a time before that. This is a warning, a reminder of a sort. If they had followed then, this wouldn’t happened.
The 44, 45 and following verses of this chapter reminds us this fact. If they had followed it, from 44th verses passage, “If the prophet of the community who became Jewminded could manage to rule them with Tora, their path would be the true path.” But a day came and they couldn’t persuade them anymore.
So, from this understanding, the books mentioned here are the uncorrupted texts. Of course the message points us the original message which means this. ve ma unzile ileyhim min Rabbihim. This part is a reference the forgotten, ruled out and destroyed truths in their books. From the message they had recieved. You say Tora, you say Bible and then you say the message they recieved. Wasn’t that Tora and Bible? It was Tora. So what is this ve ma unzile ileyhim min Rabbihim then? The real text their Rabb sent to them. These are the verdicts they cut out from the original book. So it is said here as this. If they follow the entire rules that Allah gave them, if they followed the original text…
Here’s an important point we should notice, dear friends. If they practiced it, it would’t be corrupted. The safest way to protect a text or a teaching is to turn it into action within life. So the lesson is for all muslims through the prophets self is this. If you take a verdict as a text and not carry it to your lives, you let that teaching to face the danger of corruption. It becomes defenseless to attacks. That’s why if you want to protect a teaching, you should definitely make it a part of your live. You should turn it to a regular practice of your lives.
So the answer of this question is the original Tora and Bible but the real message is their lifestyles and lack of the teachings of these books. Otherwise the Tora and Bible of today is similar to the books of Happiness Era. Even a few verses were corrupted on the way, the texts have been pretty much the same today.
If these people were sincere in their faiths and the practice of them in their lives, they would reach to a point in their books where their ancestors cut them away and from that point they would search the truth. If they were sincere, then again this sincerity would bring them to Qur’ans door always. So taking this verse from these different perspectives have no harm in them. The advice is for the believers of that book, Tora should be practiced either in its original form or todays version.
This is also a wake up call. If you are serious about your faiths, then practice it with this book on your hands. Make it a part of your life. Can we include Muslims for this call today? Truly, muslims are a part of the people of the book and surely this call includes them, includes us too.
leekelu min fevkihim ve min tahti erculihim they would have (enjoyed) eating both from above them and from below their feet. We can take this from another perspective and say semething like this too. They would have taken material and celestial in their lives with equal measures. As in they would have balanced their eartly lives with heavenly one. They wouldn’t have stayed with mere earthly pleasures, they have the chance to have the celestial, the heavenly and with that point of view the infinitely. They would have a chance to have both earthly blessings and infinitely heavenly blessings as well. This would surely elevated their life standards both in this world and the next one.
But what happened, what happens now. They chose earth, they only cared about their earthly standards, their moral stances, celestial measures, higher insights, religious actions, their faiths and all things with high and mighty standards they went below ground. They reached a sub-zero level.
minhum ummetun muktesideh There is from among them a party on the right course. Qur’an doesn’t include everyone and wipes all in one. There are some goods among them and they are picked here. There are some among Christians and Jews that are sincere in their faiths and Qur’an seperates them from the other bunch.
ve kesiyrun minhum sae ma ya’melun; But most of them follows an evil path. These second group, the majority Qur’an tells them they follow another path, much evil and wicked. But minority are excluded here again. Since the majority sets the ethical level of a society though, it’s safe to assume that, societies are ruled under the majorities values.
67-) Ya eyyuherRasulu bellig ma unzile ileyke min Rabbik* ve in lem tef’al fema bellagte risaleteHU, vAllahu ya’simuke minenNas* innAllahe la yehdil kavmel kafiriyn;
O (honorable) Rasul… Announce that which has been revealed to you from your Rabb! If you do not, then you would not have conveyed the reality of HU! Allah protects you from the people… Indeed, Allah does not give guidance to people who deny the reality! (A.Hulusi)
O Messenger! proclaim the (message) which hath been sent to thee from thy Lord. If thou didst not, thou wouldst not have fulfilled and proclaimed His mission. And Allah will defend thee from men (who mean mischief). For Allah guideth not those who reject Faith. (A.Yusuf Ali)

If we thought this with the verse above, we may understand its celestial meaning which seems like a sharp warning. O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Rabb!
ve in lem tef’al fema bellagte risaleteHU If you do not… If you don’t do it completely… We shouldn’t skip the completely part here. From the daqys of Celaleyn and to Taberi and to all the translators of today, they have all accepted that Allah’s warning is about completion. As in Rasulallah should fulfill his duties to the teeth, without anything missing, so I should add this to the original meaning.
ve in lem tef’al fema bellagte risaleteHU If you don’t do it completely, then you wouldn’t not have fulfilled and proclaimed His mission. vAllahu ya’simuke minenNas Allah protects you from the people. innAllahe la yehdil kavmel kafiriyn; Indeed, Allah does not give guidance to people who deny the reality! Kafiriyn word should be taken as ungrateful, as in people who reject the blessings that is given to him.
So a question might comes to minds here? Did Rasulallah have any intention of concealing some messages which Allah sent through him, was this the warning for that concealing thoughts? Mother Aishe said those days that thinking like that is not only a slander to Rasulallah but also a slander against Allah as well.
-Whoever assumes that Rasulallah might conceal a single thing which Allah sent to him… Whoever assumes, this is the exact expression. Whoever assumes that, he throws the biggest slander against Allah. Not just to Rasulallah, this is the worst slander against Allah.
So how should we understand this expression then. We cannot say it’s like this, in fact we shouldn’t at all. This is how we should understand it, dear friends. These kinds of sentences should be looked at with their backgrounds, in this case with the verses around it. A selective logic as an approach method carries the great danger of rejecting the entire unifying project from foundation. It’s about reminding Rasulallah and through him reminding all muslims that this entrusted knowledge should be a part of their lives all the way to its final letter. It’s also curious to see this verse right after another warning. It’s like saying, “O Muslims, o believers. You see that those sons of Israel who became jewminded ended up when they refuse to integrate the truth to their lives. If you don’t do it, you lose everything too.” I can give a perfect example here.
When sons of Israel who became Jewminded saw in their books and in Christians book, the news about Rasulallah’s arrival, they tried to conceal it, discard it. But after that Tora and Bible lost their functions too. They became almost useless, like they never arrived. Because they turned their backs to Qur’an, they turned their backs to Allah.
They ignore the verdicts and rules and news of Rasulallah’s arrival. Ignoring this single fact is ignoring all the messages of Allah and Allah Himself.
That’s why following the message as a whole. Here we can deduce the same conclusion for us with the exact opposite place. They turned their backs to their own books just because they had the news of Rasulallah’s arrival, for that they alienated themselves from Allah and Truth. So you people who have the last message is entrusted with, you Rasulallah, you should make this message as a part of your lives to its final letter. Make all the words of the message as actions of your lives. Live it, otherwise you won’t be complete. The building of revelations is like a perfect entity made of perfectly places bricks of verses. If you try to pull a single verse from this building, you face the danger of collapsing. This is how we believers should percieve this message. vAllahu ya’simuke minenNas Allah will protect you from peoples attacks.
According to the records we see from Taberi, Razi, Zemahsheri, Ibn Kesir and others, Rasulallah had bodyguards until this verses arrival. He had people protecting him. But after the arrival of this verse, he sent them and said, “Allah will protect me now on.” Of course this verse isn’t directly related to this incident since Qur’an has mutiple warnings and informations regarding the fact that Rasulallah was under the protection of Allah. innAllahe la yehdil kavmel kafiriyn; Indeed, Allah does not give guidance to people who deny the reality!
68-) Kul ya ehlel Kitabi lestum ala shey’in hatta tukiymut Tevrate vel Inciyle ve ma unzile ileykum min Rabbikum* ve le yeziydenne kesiyren minhum ma unzile ileyke min Rabbike tugyanen ve kufra* fela te’se alel kavmil kafiriyn;
Say, “O those to whom the knowledge of the reality was given! You are not standing on any ground until you uphold (apply directly to your life) the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Rabb!” Indeed, that which has been revealed to you from your Rabb increases most of them in denial and transgression… So do not grieve over the people of denial! (A.Hulusi)
Say: “O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Torah, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord.” It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Kul ya ehlel Kitabi Say: “O People of the Book! lestum ala shey’in hatta tukiymut Tevrate vel Inciyle ve ma unzile ileykum min Rabbikum As we can all see dear friends; right after the verse started with O Messenger, Qur’an turns back the main subject of the passage. So, it’s obvious that the previous verse warning Rasulallah has a reason like “Don’t become like them, don’t fall into the same mistakes as them.” Our previous translation and explanation sets a nice background for this verse too.
Kul ya ehlel Kitabi Say: “O People of the Book! lestum ala shey’in hatta tukiymut Tevrate vel Inciyle ve ma unzile ileykum min Rabbikum “You have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Tora, the Bible, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord.” You have nothing unless you practice your beliefs. Why? Because you have a book, a line between you and celestial realm, but you refuse to follow it. So basically you are nothing. Holding the document of truth in your hands doesn’t carry much meaning. Because you do nothing with those truths.
Carrying the medicine which will cure you from your illnesses doesn’t mean you are sick-free until you take the medicine in your systems.
Carrying a perfect battle plan which will help you in your battles doesn’t mean you are victorious unless you execute that plan.
Carrying the greatest construct of the world in your hands doesn’t mean you have the most beautiful palace to live in until you turn it into the part of this world. This is the message here. If you haven’t put that things in life, it’s only a recipe you are carrying.
It’s like that old joke. Old man had a perfect cake recipe, he went and took all the ingredients and but them all in a bag. From cheese to eggs, from butter to milk, all of them. Right about to make a cake a big bird emerged and swiped the entire bag. OId man was waving the paper behind the bird, “I have the recipe.” We have the recipe of truth named Qur’an. But holding the recipe alone isn’t enough. That recipe should be used. Otherwise holding the recipe or not won’t make a difference. We will fall into a state of misery without it, even we had the chance. This will create a bigger let down.
ve le yeziydenne kesiyren minhum ma unzile ileyke min Rabbike tugyanen ve kufra Indeed, that which has been revealed to you from your Rabb increases most of them in denial and transgression.
We translated a similar verse above, you remember. They were presenting some objections to you. They were measuring you by the power and wealth you have on earth and they claimed that Allah takes away the blessing from you, you are not in the right path. Whether by intentional or without believing. They were saying, “If Allah was really supporting you, Allah would have given you blessings. We are rich.” Yes they were saying this. “We have the wealth, O Muhammad. We have the power. So why should we put faith in you?”
So there’s another verse arrived here that eradicates this logic. It says; Indeed, that which has been revealed to you from your Rabb increases most of them in denial and transgression. We can take this as the blessing. As in when Allah decides to enlarge the blessings that are given to you, they won’t find you right anyway. fela te’se alel kavmil kafiriyn; Don’t feel sorry for a blasphemous community anymore.
This is important, it gives us Rasulallah’s soul map to us. Rasulallah was staying on this so much, about their salvation. But here our Rabb eases his mind, saying, “You don’t have to feel sorry for them anymore.”
69-) Innelleziyne amenu velleziyne hadu vassabiune vennesara men amene Billahi vel yevmil ahiri ve amile salihan fela havfun aleyhim ve la hum yahzenun;
Indeed, whoever among the Jews, the Sabeans and the Christians believes in Allah (their very own Rabb and the Rabb of the worlds) and in the eternal life to come and practices the requirements of this faith, there shall be no fear for them, nor shall they be grieved! (A.Hulusi)
Those who believe (in the Quran), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Innelleziyne amenu velleziyne hadu vassabiune vennesara Those who believe (in the Quran), in capital letters, MUSLIMS. When I say muslims regularly, I mean all people who believe in one creator, unity on earth. But since my speech cannot show you whether its regular or special, I should add this and say, I’m talking about MUSLIMS now. Because when I want to use capital letters, I specifically mean the community of Rasulallah.
Yes, so here. O MUSLIMS Innelleziyne amenu Those who believe (in the Quran) velleziyne hadu those who follow the Jewish (scriptures) vassabiune and the Sabians vennesara and the Christians men amene Billahi vel yevmil ahiri ve amile salihan fela havfun aleyhim ve la hum yahzenun any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. Allah guarantees it.
I remind you 62nd verse of Al-Baqarah. A similar form was there. Innelleziyne amenu velleziyne Hadu venNesara vesSabiiyne men amene Billahi velyevmil’ahiri ve amile salihan, felehum ecruhum inde Rabbihim ve la havfun aleyhim ve la hum yahzenun; (Al-Baqarah/62)
Minor adjustments may be there but a similar form nonetheless. Baqarah/62. They shall be rewarded. Their boons are their own. They shall not carry sadness for their past nor anxiety for their future.
In here dear friends, I should have your attention to something. Qur’an is the peak of all revelations. Qur’an is the final and perfect book of spiritual maturity Project. It’s the crown of all books. But even with these attributes, Qur’an never leaves out any previous belief followers from Allah’s blessings. It’s the only message that informs us their paths (some of theirs paths) are also good and right and they shall be rewarded for their actions.
In this sense, Qur’an is the flag which also represents the truths of all previous celestial messages and embraces them. It’s the last peak of celestial message. What it is meant here is this. Without falling to the assumption of a faith arrogance, a faith nationality, people should applaud all things right and true, whereever they see and whoever they see it from, truth and beauty is a quality to embrace and accepted and this verse is the reminder of this fact.
It is also a warning to muslims, reminding the muslim sons of Israel who fell into the depths of faith arrogance and became Jewminded people. Don’t deny that there’s no truth except yours. See the good beside yours. Accept them, don’t give all things good to your community alone or all blessings to yourselves alone.
70-) Lekad ehazna miysaka beni israiyle ve erselna ileyhim rusula* kullema caehum Rasulun Bi ma la tehva enfusuhum feriykan kezzebu ve feriykan yaktulun;
We had taken a covenant from the Children of Israel and disclosed for them Rasuls! But whenever a Rasul came to them with what their egos did not like, they denied some and killed some! (A.Hulusi)
We took the covenant of the Children of Israel and sent them messengers, every time, there came to them an a messenger with what they themselves desired not – some (of these) they called impostors, and some they (go so far as to) slay. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Lekad ehazna miysaka beni israiyle ve erselna ileyhim rusula We took the covenant of the Children of Israel and sent them messengers, every time kullema caehum Rasulun Bi ma la tehva enfusuhum But whenever a Rasul came to them with what their egos did not like feriykan kezzebu ve feriykan yaktulun they denied some and killed some! Qur’an tries to confort Rasulallah here by showing about sons of Israel and their behaviours, how they had treated other prophets. It says, “They are not doing it just to you. They were always like that.” Many assassination attempts were made against Rasulallah. Qur’an informs Rasulallah that they also had done this to other prophets as well. That’s why the real problem is not about being from their bloodline or not. There were many prophets before Rasulallah from their own blood even but they tried to kill them also.
71-) Ve hasibu ella tekune fitnetun fe’amu ve sammu summe tabellahu aleyhim summe ‘amu ve sammu kesiyrun minhum* vAllahu Basiyrun Bima ya’melun;
They thought there would be no harm in this; hence, they became blind (to the reality) and deaf (to the call of the Truth)! Then Allah accepted their repentance… But most of them became blind (unable to evaluate the reality) and deaf (unable to perceive) again! Allah (as the creator of their deeds) is Basir over what they do. (A.Hulusi)
They thought there would be no trial (or punishment); so they became blind and deaf; yet Allah (in mercy) turned to them; yet again many of them became blind and deaf. But Allah sees well all that they do. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Ve hasibu ella tekune fitnetun fe’amu ve sammu What did sons of Israel do more than that? Sons of Israel who became Jewminded. They thought there would be no harm in this; hence, they became blind and deaf. On the base of this behaviour lies arrogance. What kind of arrogance? We are the chosen community of Allah, we are immune. Using their bloodline as a means to get favors from Allah. summe tabellahu aleyhim Then Allah accepted their repentance. They were given many chances to turn throughout history. Here Rasulallah was reminded that there were many opportunities they could use to adjust their behaviours, to leave their state of denial.
summe ‘amu ve sammu kesiyrun minhum yet again many of them became blind and deaf. As in they were treating you and the celestial message like this because this attitude become their nature. Their hearts become blind, their minds become deaf. They are no longer capable of realizing the truth.
Most important ingredient of this attitude is the arrogance of faith. We can also say, assuming of owning the patent of truth. This assumption of having the sole truth is the definition of faith arrogance. summe tabellahu aleyhim Then Allah accepted their repentance summe ‘amu ve sammu kesiyrun minhum yet again many of them became blind and deaf. vAllahu Basiyrun Bima ya’melun; But Allah sees well all that they do. They may be blind but Allah sees well.
72-) Lekad keferelleziyne kalu innAllahe HUvel Mesiyhubnu Meryem* ve kalel Mesiyhu ya beni israila’budullahe Rabbiy ve Rabbekum* innehu men yushrik Billahi fekad harramallahu aleyhil cennete ve me’vahun nar* ve ma lizzalimiyne min ensar;
Certainly, those who said, “Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary” have denied the reality… (Whereas) the Messiah had said, “O Children of Israel… Serve Allah, my Rabb and your Rabb… For whoever associates partners to Allah (shirq; duality) indeed Allah has made Paradise forbidden to him! His destination will be fire! There are no helpers for the wrongdoers!” (A.Hulusi)
Certainly they disbelieve who say: “Allah is Christ the son of Mary.” But said Christ: “O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.” Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Lekad keferelleziyne kalu innAllahe HUvel Mesiyhubnu Meryem Qur’an brings the passage to another section of the people of the book, Christians. It says; Certainly, those who said, “Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary” have denied the reality.
ve kalel Mesiyhu ya beni israila’budullahe Messiah had said, “O Children of Israel. Rabbiy ve Rabbekum Serve Allah, my Rabb and your Rabb. Even after he said that, they declared Messiah, the Rabb Himself. There’s a pointer here to Trinity belief.
So dear friends, if you ask when did he say that, you may find the answer in the Bible at hand. I can give the exact page in Matta Bible. Matta 4th bab, 10th verse, Luka 4th bab, 8th verse, Yohanna 20th bab, 17th verse. The call of Jesus, Qur’an mentions is rather clear. We can see there the call is all about not declaring him as god and they should only serve Allah.
innehu men yushrik Billahi fekad harramallahu aleyhil cennete For whoever associaates partners to Allah indeed Allah has made Paradise forbidden to him! These words are from Qur’an. Whoever associates partners or sons to Allah, heavens are forbidden to him.
Actually there’s an interesting form of addressing here in this verse. They didn’t call them blasphemers. Qur’an doesn’t call them heathens as it calls Meccan heathens. It doesn’t say they shirq. The expression of vellezine eshraku isn’t used to describe Christians or Jews. It’s interesting. You cannot see an addressing form of Mushrikiyn, for them. But another form is used, something softer.
innehu men yushrik Billahi fekad harramallahu aleyhil cennete For whoever associaates partners to Allah indeed Allah has made Paradise forbidden to him! This expression has a softer, easy to turn back attitude in it.
ve me’vahun nar Their destination is Fire ve ma lizzalimiyne min ensar; There are no helpers for the wrongdoers!
The reason of this particular form, I will talk about it further in next verses.
73-) Lekad keferelleziyne kalu innAllahe salisu selaseh* ve ma min ilahin illa ilahun vahid* ve in lem yentehu amma yekulune leyemessennelleziyne keferu minhum azabun eliym;
Indeed, those who said, “Allah is the third of the three” have become deniers of the reality! The concept of godhood is invalid; the possessor of Uluhiyyah is ONE! If they don’t stop what they are saying, the deniers among them will surely live a painful suffering! (A.Hulusi)
They disbelieved who say: Allah is one of three (in a Trinity): for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous chastisement will befall the disbelievers among them. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Lekad keferelleziyne kalu innAllahe salisu selaseh Indeed, those who said, “Allah is the third of the three” have become deniers of the reality! A direct reference to Christianic trinity belief.
ve ma min ilahin illa ilahun vahid for there is no god except One God.
As we can see the mentality of trinity is completely rejected. We had studied this subjectin our lesson including Nina/171th verse. So I’m not going to elaborate here again.
Trinity is the most complicated, most chaotic problem among all religion scholars. There’s no problem so severely complex than the belief of trinity. And because they too have no explaination on that matter they decide to categorize it as dogma and move on.
Christians formula on this subject is, “Believe first, then you try to explain or understand it if you can. They asked for faith first. But about trinity there’s no mind can be settled or heart can be set for a believer. I mentioned the ideology of trinity was injected to Christianism by Paulus and it is indeed a pagan tradition. Both Hindu, Egyptian or Anatolian Paganism, we can see the traces of trinity related stories.
For example old Indian story Trimurti is a complete trinity with three god figures Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. These three represent also the same things of a trinity construction. A father, a son and a holy spirit. These three represents these three figures by the letter.
Another similar ideology is ancient Egypt’s Hermes Trismegistus. As in three megistus. A three staged god. It’s dividing the god to three pieces.
Of course Christianis Trinity doesn’t say outright that Jesus is Allah. There’s no information or explanation about that. They too don’t accept that. But in some sects of Christianism, it is said that Allah came down to earth in the form of Jesus. There are some saying that Allah showed his face in Jesus’ form. Some other uses the pattern of selase uklum, as in three element. Allah is the union of these three elements. Surely dividing Allah into three elements is strange and outright arrogant. There are some explanations about this matter but none of them are convincing naturally.
But we should know this. They never say Jesus is Allah. They say themselves that he had eaten, lived and died. But when you ask this question to them, you cannot get an answer. “How can Allah die then? How can you crucify Allah?” They accept the fact that he can eat, drink, walk among people. They say there’s something as last supper. So this man eats, drinks because he is indeed a man. So where’s the godhood in that then?
They accept the twisted nature of this subject too. They try to come up with explanations but every explanation makes the subject more complicated. That’s why the subject of trinity is one of the most twisted and inexplicable problems of entire religion studies.
So I also gave an answer to the question of I asked earlier. Qur’an doesn’t categories them as heathens outright. Because that’s not what their claims are with. They do te’vil. They make comments, they interpret.
ve in lem yentehu amma yekulune leyemessennelleziyne keferu minhum azabun eliym; If they don’t stop what they are saying, the deniers among them will surely live a painful suffering!
74-) Efela yetubune ilAllahi ve yestagfiruneHU, vAllahu Gafurun Rahiym;
Are they still not going to repent to Allah and ask for forgiveness? Allah is the Ghafur, the Rahim. (A.Hulusi)
Why turn they not to Allah, and seek His forgiveness? For Allah is Oft- forgiving, Most Merciful. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Efela yetubune ilAllahi ve yestagfiruneHU Are they still not going to repent to Allah and ask for forgiveness? There’s a door here for Christians. The door of repetance is not only open for Jews but for Christians too. It’s clear here.
vAllahu Gafurun Rahiym For Allah is Oftenly Forgiving, Most Merciful.
75-) Mel Mesiyhubnu Meryeme illa Rasul* kad halet min kablihir Rusul* ve ummuhu siddiykah* kana ye’kulanit ta’am* unzur keyfe nubeyyinu lehumul ayati summenzur enna yu’fekun;
Messiah, the son of Mary, is only a Rasul… Rasuls have come and gone before him! His mother was a woman of truth (she had witnessed the essential reality and testified to its existence without reservation)! They both used to eat food (they were human)! Look at how We have informed them of the signs! Then look again, how they divert from the truth! (A.Hulusi)
Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth! (A.Yusuf Ali)
Mel Mesiyhubnu Meryeme illa Rasul* Messiah, the son of Mary, is only a Rasul. kad halet min kablihir Rusul Rasuls have come and gone before him! Remember Ali-Imran 144.
Ve ma Muhammedun illa Rasul Muhammed is only a Rasul of Allah. kad halet min kablihirRusul Rasuls have come and gone before him. Almost identical forms. They are both identified as close forms. That’s why what meant to be said here is, don’t slander your prophets, your scholars, your saints by overglorifying them. Don’t throw them out of life by giving them deity roles.
There are two ways to throw people out of life.
1-Hate, by lowering their positions.
2-Love, you take them out of exampler zone. You cannot take examples from what you deitify. People cannot immitate gods. Godly figures are out of touch of immitation, they are the things out of life. People can only take other people as examples. That’s why they try to take their leaders, their loved ones, prophets. People who refuse to take them as examples are usually overglorify them, making them angelic figures, something extraordinary and supernatural. This is the worst thing kind of treatment for a prophet. That’s why this kind of behaviours are restricted by Rasulallah with these words.
– La tutruni kema etriyyet me Meryem..! Don’t make me flying, (don’t overglorify me) like they did to son of Mary.
– Fe innema ena abdun..! I’m just a man. Fe kulu, For me, say this. Abdullahi ve rasuluhu..! He is a worshipper and prophet of Allah.
In this sense there’s no beautiful warning than this, a great formula. Qur’an continues.
ve ummuhu siddiykah And here the slander of Jews is rejected. Jews had slandered his mother.They named Jesus as the child of an unknown father. That’s why in a single verse we see degrading and overglorifying. And as we can also see both of them are rejected. Tha balance is the center of attention here.
kana ye’kulanit ta’am Another great proof. They had both to eat their daily food. Regular food. How can a figure be a god if his sustenance is nothing but regular food?
unzur keyfe nubeyyinu lehumul ayati Look at how We have informed them of the signs! summenzur enna yu’fekun Then look again, how they divert from the truth!
76-) Kul eta’budune min dunillahi ma la yemliku lekum darren ve la nef’a* vAllahu HUves Semiy’ul ‘Aliym;
Say, “Do you serve those besides Allah, who neither give you harm, nor any benefit? Allah is HU, the Sami, and the Aleem. (A.Hulusi)
Say: “Will ye worship, besides Allah, something which hath no power either to harm or benefit you? But Allah,- He it is that heareth and knoweth all things.” (A.Yusuf Ali)
Kul eta’budune min dunillahi ma la yemliku lekum darren ve la nef’a Say, “Do you serve those besides Allah, who neither give you harm, nor any benefit?
If we pay closer attention, Jesus and his mother Mary were mentioned in the verse above. And now we see an expression saying; Do you serve those besides Allah, who neither give you harm, nor any benefit? Think about it. What a great answer to people who wait a har mor benefit from their pasts, from their saints. So this expression used to describe Mary and Jesus, it’s also valid for regular people to naturally. That’s why people who are in wait for an effect from their ancestors, from the headfigures they overglorified should really pay closer attention to this verse.
vAllahu HUves Semiy’ul ‘Aliym; Allah is that hears and knows all things.
77-) Kul ya ehlel Kitabi la taglu fiy diynikum gayrel Hakki ve la tettebi’u ehvae kavmin kad dallu min kablu ve edallu kesiyren ve dallu an sevais sebiyl;
Say, “O People of the Book… Do not exceed the limits and unjustly transgress the boundaries of your religion… Do not follow the empty delusions of a people who have diverted many from the right course in the past, and who have gone astray from the centerline!” (A.Hulusi)
Say: “O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper), trespassing beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by,- who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the even way. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Kul ya ehlel Kitabi Say: “O people of the Book! la taglu fiy diynikum gayrel Hakki Do not exceed the limits and unjustly transgress the boundaries of your religion. If you do, you won’t believe more. Quite the opposite, you start to corrupt your beliefs. Don’t say, “Wouldn’t it be better to believe more?” More belief isn’t like more food. You cannot say, “We should believe more, so what should we do? We should deitify our prophet. We should elevate our saints to celestial positions.”
Is it though? No, that’s only corrupt your faiths. Faith is a delicate constitution. If you break the lines, it all goes away. That’s why you should watch your boundries constantly.
ve la tettebi’u ehvae kavmin kad dallu min kablu ve edallu kesiyren ve dallu an sevais sebiyl Do not follow the empty delusions of a people who have diverted many from the right course in the past, and who have gone astray from the centerline!” This is a warning to this community from our Rabb. Don’t fall from the path like those before you. Don’t follow their footsteps. What did prophet say regarding this falling away?
– I swear you will fall into the same paths like those before you and you will follow them step by step.
– Le tedbeanne sunenellezine min kablikum shibran bi shbrin, ziraen bi ziraen If they crawl into a serpents den Velev dehalu hucr’a rabbin you will follow them and crawl into the same serpents den.
This is a dire news for us. An information that we won’t get smarter despite Allah’s warning.
78-) Lu’inelleziyne keferu min beni israiyle ala lisani Davude ve ‘Iysebni Meryem* zalike Bima ‘asav ve kanu ya’tedun;
Those who deny the Truth from the Children of Israel have been cursed (fell far from Allah) by the tongue of David and Jesus, the son of Mary… This was because they rebelled and transgressed the boundary. (A.Hulusi)
Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Lu’inelleziyne keferu min beni israiyle ala lisani Davude ve ‘Iysebni Meryem Those who deny the Truth from the Children of Israel have been cursed fell far from Allah by the tongue of David and Jesus, the son of Mary. You can find David’s curse in masmur, 28th bab 21, 22, 31 and 33rd sentences. Those passages informs us clearly about David’s curse. Also it can be seen in Bible. Matta 12nd chapter 34th sentence and 23rg chapter 33 and 35th verses show us the curse of Jesus too. As in you can see the reaction of Jesus regarding those who tries to make him a celestial entity. Despite all these, yes despite these open warnings they go astray from the truth. So even your books may containt the truth about this, doesn’t mean you are immune to corruption. You may easily fall into the same mistake if you don’t make that book a part of your life.

79-) Kanu la yetenahevne an munkerin fealuh* le bi’se ma kanu yef’alun;
They did not prevent one another from the bad deeds that they did. How wretched were their deeds! (A.Hulusi)
Nor did they forbid one another the iniquities which they committed: evil indeed were the deeds which they did. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Kanu la yetenahevne an munkerin fealuh They. Yes, what were they trying to do? They did not prevent one another from the bad deeds that they did.
Remember dear friends. In the verse at the beginning of this lesson, we deduce that sons of Israel became corrpted because the religious scholars and leaders didn’t try to warn them on their mistakes. And here we see the reason why Christians fell, it’s the exact same thing. Their scholars didn’t warn them and tried to prevent them from evil deeds. This is all about Emr-i Bil Maruf, Nehy-i Anil Munker. Order the good and reject the bad. So it’s never enough to protect a text from literal corruption, to walk the straight path the members of the beliefs should also protect their brothers and sisters from doing evil deeds by warning them, persuading them educating them. That’s the only way for a communities survival.

80-) Tera kesiyren minhum yetevellevnelleziyne keferu* le bi’se ma kaddemet lehum enfusuhum en sehitAllahu aleyhim ve fiyl azabi hum halidun;
You will see the majority of them befriending those who deny the knowledge of the reality… How wretched is the eventuality prepared by their ego! The wrath of Allah is on them! They will be subject to suffering eternally. (A.Hulusi)
Thou seest many of them turning in friendship to the Unbelievers. Evil indeed are (the works) which their souls have sent forward before them (with the result), that Allah’s wrath is on them, and in torment will they abide. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Tera kesiyren minhum yetevellevnelleziyne keferu You will see the majority of them befriending those who deny the knowledge of the reality.
So, what is the main reason behind this. Why haven’t they try to warn others and prevent them of evil deeds? Why haven’t they protect each others? Because good and evil are so intertwined. They walk side by side. When good is deep into bads territory, no warnings can be enough to persuade the bad. At the end the good becomes adjusted to bad deeds. This is what we read here.
le bi’se ma kaddemet lehum enfusuhum How wretched is the eventuality prepared by their ego.
It’s very important dear friends, to which side a man wants to here from within. If you listen to negative, you can only hear the whispers of bad. If you want to hear positive, you can listen to you own soul.
en sehitAllahu aleyhim The wrath of Allah is on them. ve fiyl azabi hum halidun They will be subject to suffering eternally.
81-) Ve lev kanu yu’minune Billahi ven Nebiyyi ve ma unzile ileyhi mettehazuhum evliyae ve lakinne kesiyren minhum fasikun;
Had they believed in Allah, the creator of their being with His Names, the Nabi (Muhammad saw) and what has been revealed to him, they would not have befriended them (the deniers)… But most of them are corrupted in faith. (A.Hulusi)
If only they had believed in Allah, in the Prophet, and in what hath been revealed to him, never would they have taken them for friends and protectors, but most of them are rebellious wrong-doers. (A.Yusuf Ali)
Ve lev kanu yu’minune Billahi ven Nebiyyi ve ma unzile If only they had believed in Allah, in the Prophet, and in what hath been revealed to him ileyhi mettehazuhum evliyae they would not have befriended other deniers ve lakinne kesiyren minhum fasikun but most of them are rebellious wrong-doers.
May Allah protect us from such corruption. Hopefully Allah gives us an exampler mind that help this community make the entrusted revelations a part of our lives, make the prophets exampler life a part of our lives without turning him a godly entity.
