TAFSIR LESSONS AN-NISA (153-176) (36)

BismillahirRahmanirRahiym

Dear friends, in our previous lesson we had studied hypocrites more truly the psychology of hypocracy. In those verses all the emotions and thought of hypocritical behaviours with backgrounds and the nature of being two faced is pictured clearly.

Now in this last lesson of Nisa chapter, following those verses we will try to translate and explain some of the questions in Rasulallah’s heart and the answer for them. We now continue our lesson with 153rd verse.

153-) Yes’eluke ehlul Kitabi en tunezzile aleyhim Kitaben mines Semai fekad seelu Musa ekbere min zalike fekalu erinAllahe cehreten feehazethumus sa’ikatu Bi zulmihim* summettehazul icle min ba’di ma caethumul beyyinatu fe ‘afevna an zalik* ve ateyna Musa sultanen mubiyna;

The people of the book (the Jews) want you to bring down “a book from the heavens” for them… In truth, they had asked for something even greater from Moses… They had said, “Show us Allah outright,” and the lightning struck them because of their wrongdoing… After clear proofs came to them, they took to worshiping a calf… We forgave even this and gave Moses an evident power. (A.Hulusi)

The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them from heaven: Indeed they asked Moses for an even greater (miracle), for they said: “Show us Allah in public!,” But they were seized for their presumption, by thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear signs had come to them; even so We forgave them; and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Yes’eluke ehlul Kitabi en tunezzile aleyhim Kitaben mines Semai The people of the Book ask you to cause a book to descend to them from heaven.

There might be a different translation fort his but both give the same meaning in the end. Firstly they physically want you to descend a book over their head. Considering the following part of this verse I believe this meaning is more accurate. But second meaning has another puncture since the Word Kitab comes in the form of kitaben and the point of that might be their hidden meaning for it. As in. “This message you bring doesn’t address us directly. We are the chosen group among people, we are close to Allah. Hence you should bring a special message specifically for us.” This is another meaning for this part of the verse.

Other meaning I find more common is the physical book, like the stone tablets of Moses. They asked for a physical book which its start and end is written to begin with. But I don’t find this meaning more to the point.

fekad seelu Musa ekbere min zalike they had asked for something even greater from Moses fekalu erinAllahe cehreten they said: “Show us Allah in public.” feehazethumus sa’ikatu Bi zulmihim and the lightning struck them because of their wrongdoing. We had studied this incident in our translation for the 55th verse of Al-Baqarah.

Ve iz kultum ya Musa len nu’mine leke hatta nerAllahe cehraten. They had said. “O Moses, unless you Show us Allah directly we won’t believe you.”

Why directly? Because they had seen Allah figuratively when Allah had saved them from the tyrany of pharaoh.

They saw that they were ascended to a higher position while they were struggling in the lowest. They saw the glowing hand. They saw the Moses and his staff. But even with all these, they were still trying to force their hands and see Allah with their own eyes. They were asking for something incomprehensable. They were bound to their false assumption of Allah in their minds. With Qur’ans worlds;

Ve ma kaderullahe hakka kadrihi.. (Zumer/67)

 They hadn’t praised Allah as they should. They had tried to materialize Allah. Trey were still in the mentality of antropomorphic god. This was because their lifestyle was mixed with the lives of heathens. That’s why in this verse the message is for Rasulallah, saying . “It’s their old habit.” As in, “Don’t find their demands confusing since they had demanded same tyhings from their fathers as well. Their own prophets. They had done the same thing to Moses, the prophet who rescued all of them from the tyrany of pharaoh.”

summettehazul icle min ba’di ma caethumul beyyinatu After clear proofs came to them, they took to worshiping a calf. Even with all those proofs they still turned to a calf for worshipping.

We had studied this also in Baqarah. ve ushribu fi kulubihimul icle.. (Baqarah/93)

Love of the calf was drunk into their hearts. They had put their jeweleries together and gave an artist named Samiri to build a statue of calf while Moses was away to get revelations. So if you ask why the statue of a calf of all things? Here we meet a wierd truth. One of the goddesses of their enemy Pharaoh, a goddess named Hathor. A cow deity. It was obvious that the sons of Israel who became Jewminded was trying to worship that figure. This was a loss of identity, corruption of personality. A loss both in personal and social scale that destroy the very fabric of their nature. That’s why Qur’an reveals this event with all its social and psychological aspects and say that whichever societies fall into the same mistake of imitating their enemies will become Jewmindeds like them.

fe ‘afevna an zalik We forgave even this, clear their sins ve ateyna Musa sultanen mubiyna; and gave Moses an evident power.

These verses put relief in Rasulallahs heart against Jews frenzy. In fact this passage is located right after the passage about hypocrites. So the answer of this translations question lies beheath this.

This was about the question in Rasulallah’s mind, the first reader of revelations. Rasulallah was thinking like this. “These people, Allah talked to them, they had seen it.” Also for Madina Jews. “How can a person be an unbeliever after seeing the arrival of revelations with their own eyes. How can they be so two faced. How can they still reject the truth.” In reality Rasulallah was having a hard time understanding their perversity. As in they were still trying to find another perversed way even they were addressed by Allah personally. Rasulallah was surprised by the nature of hypocracy.

So this verse was the answer to Rasulallahs question. This answer is like this. We had given Moses greater miracles than yours, but even with all that, even they were in their community, they did far worse to him than what they do to you. This end part of this passage also reveals another truth. ve ateyna Musa sultanen mubiyna; we gave Moses clear and strong signs. As in we gave Moses more in miracles. He was given different miracles like glowing hand and staff. But even with that they still betrayed him, betrayed his truth. So it’s only natural that they betray you.

154-) Ve refa’na fevkahumutTure Bi miysakihim ve kulna lehumudhulul babe succeden ve kulna lehum la ta’du fiys sebti ve ahazna minhum miysakan galiyza;

 We raised Mount Sinai over them so they keep their covenant, and told them, “Enter the gate in prostration.” And We said, “Do not transgress the Sabbath” and took from them a solemn covenant. (A.Hulusi)

And for their covenant We raised over them the Mount (Sinai); and (on another occasion) we said: “Enter the gate with humility”; and (once again) we commanded them: “Transgress not in the matter of the Sabbath.” And We took from them a solemn covenant. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Ve refa’na fevkahumutTure Bi miysakihim Passage continues to console and confort Rasulallah, in fact this type of addressing had been done to other prophets as well since it’s about the muslim sons of Israels process of becoming Jewminded people.

Ve refa’na fevkahumutTure Bi miysakihim We raised Mount Sinai over them so they keep their covenant.

There was a question of Rasulallah’s mind. “Can it change anything in peoples mind if they see another miracles aside Qur’an itself?” Rasulallah’s miracle, his sign of prophethood was Qur’an. In fact in a hadith from Buhari we read;

“The only miracles was given to me to validate my prophethood is Qur’an.”

That’s why the only miracle Rasulallah had and need to validate his prophethood is Qur’an.

So as an answer to the obvious question of; “Would there be any difference if there was another extraordinary thing beside Qur’an?” “No, nothing would ever change. Because there were some attempts on that regard.” After that answer Qur’an gives ujs that example about Jewminded sons of Israel. A situation happened long time ago.

miysakihim ve kulna lehumudhulul babe succeden ve kulna lehum la ta’du fiys sebti We warned them, “Enter the gate in prostration.” And We said, “Do not transgress the Sabbath”.

This grateful prostrations are mentioned in the verses 58 and 59 of Baqarah chapter. When they were told to enter their homeland Palastine with grateful and thanks, they chose to enter from the back side, not the front door and pillaged their ways through from gardens and fields. They were asked to say “Hiddatun” as in. “Forgive us, o Rabb. We are grateful to you. We are nothing in front of you. We ask for your forgiveness.” But according to the records they bend the words and say “Hintatun.” Which is the word of grain. So they entered their homeland saying grain, grain. Like they were asking for more earthy possessions instead of asking forgiveness from Allah by saying “Estagfurullah.”

Also there is another mention here about breaking the sept or in Hebrew, Sabbath. It’s the tradition which has been practiced ever since, the rule of stop working on Saturdays. Interestingly Allah wasn’t the one who put this rule in the first place, they chose that day to focus fully on worshippings. That day there wouldn’t be any earthly businesses and Saturdays would be fully devoted to Allah. They put that rule to themselves and sure enough they broke the rule. They were the first transgressors on that promise.

They were also the ones who invented the method of hile-i sheriye. They were people who live by the water so they were casting their nets by friday evenings andwhen the sabbath ends at Saturday nights they were coming to the shores and collecting the nets. By doing that they supposedly didn’t work on Saturdays and didn’t break the commitment of sabbath either. But they did it anyway.

ve ahazna minhum miysakan galiyza we also took from them a solemn covenant. There are verses related to that promise 63 to 65th verses of Al Baqarah and 171 of Araf gives us the background of that covenant.

155-) Fe Bi ma nakdihim miysakahum ve kufrihim Bi ayatillahi ve katlihimul Enbiyae Bi gayri Hakkin ve kavlihim kulubuna gulf* bel tabeAllahu aleyha Bi kufrihim fela yu’minune illa kaliyla;

We recompensed them for breaking their covenant, denying the existence of Allah in His signs (the manifestations of His Names), killing the Nabis against the will of the Truth and for saying “Our hearts are sealed” (our consciousness is cocooned). Indeed, We locked their understanding because of their denial! Except for a few of them, they will not believe! (A.Hulusi)

(They have incurred divine displeasure): In that they broke their covenant; that they rejected the Signs of Allah; that they slew the Messengers in defiance of right; that they said, “Our hearts are the Wrappings (which preserve Allah’s Word; We need no more)”;- Nay, Allah hath set the seal on their hearts for their blasphemy, and little is it they believe;- (A.Yusuf Ali)

Fe Bi ma nakdihim miysakahum In that they broke their covenant; ve kufrihim Bi ayatillahi that they rejected the Signs of Allah ve katlihimul Enbiyae Bi gayri Hakkin that they slew the Messengers in defiance of right ve kavlihim kulubuna gulf* and for saying “Our hearts are sealed”.

The sentence; “Our hearts are sealed.” Also comes in the 88th verse of Al-Baqarah. This is a two sided expression. It can be used for two different meanings. First one is “Our hearts are sealed, covered with protection, your words cannot influence our hearts. We don’t hear you.” As in, “Don’t tire yourself, you cannot fool us.” Or by other meanings, “Our hearts are locked, since they are the information depots.” In Ragip’s curriculum we see several indications backing this meaning as well. “Our hearts are filled with knowledge. They are the centers of knowledge. So we don’t need the message you bring to us.” An ignorant and arrogant attitude they were into.

In fact this verse mentions another thing, the prophet slayer nature of Jews. It is the next sentence. This is one of the biggest signs of becoming Jewminded. As you already know sons of Israel who became Jewminded have records of stoning their prophets or best case scenario, throwing him from their lives by talking badly to them. Christians did the exact opposite however. They deitify their prophets and ascend him to a level which he cannot interfere with their daily lives.

But in the end both parties found a way to throw their prophets from their lives. Those who descended their prophets and those who ascended them. Same conclusion. In this passage, last one in the Nisa chapter, Qur’an informs us on these two opposite deviation. In a few verses later we will see the corruption in Christianic nature and how they ascended their propets as well.

bel tabeAllahu aleyha Bi kufrihim But in fact Allah has set the seal on their hearts for their blasphemy.

 A peculiar response here. They were saying, “Our hearts are sealed. Rabb of All Worlds answer to their claims. “No, Allah sealed their hearts.” Two claims representing two sides of life. This represents that the relation between Allah and worshipper is based on, reciprocity. As in; Allah’s will doesn’t happen unrelated from humans actions and free wills. They closed their hearts and Alla doesn’t open their seals too.

..felemma zagu ezagAllahu kulubehum.. Saff/5. They slipped. Allah slipped their hearts. Simple as that. Allah doesn’t seal anyones heart just because He feels like it. The seal here is in fact a persons sealing his own conscience. A conscience is covered with sins seals itself by time. A layer of dust surfaces the conscience.This layer thickens in time with all the defiance to Allah. It becomes soundproof, lightproof. To a degree which Allah’s light cannot reach to that heart. The light of revelations and common sense cannot penetrate that thich later. After a while the owner of that heart cannot even hear his own conscience. It screams inside, cries and yells but all that are now in vain. In the end the conscience is covered with the seal of blasphemy.

fela yu’minune illa kaliyla; At the end. What’s the end game? That’s why they rarely believe. They become short of belief. The shortage of belief finally comes to point of depletion of belief. They lose like that.

156-) Ve Bi kufrihim ve kavlihim ala Meryeme buhtanen aziyma;

For denying the reality and uttering a great slander against Mary! (A.Hulusi)

That they rejected Faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge; (A.Yusuf Ali)

For denying the truth and uttering a great slander against Mary! (Their hearts are sealed by Allah)

This is an interesting one,  a historical record in fact. They hadn’t begun slandering Mary until Jesus grew up and declared his prophethood, thus began to criticise sons of Israel who became Jewminded and invited them to Allah. After the first slander at Jesus birth they met tyhe baby Jesus miracle just like we read in the 30th verse of Chapter Mary, after that miracle they stopped slandering, took back is more true. Because what they witnessed was something extraordinary. But when the years passed and Jesus began to criticise them, old slanders surfaced again. They accused Jesus of being an illegitimate child and her mother being unfaithful and lack of morality.

So Qur’an uses these words to describe their own crimes. It says, “They uttered a horrible slander.”

157-) Ve kavlihim inna katelnel Mesiyha ‘Iysebne Meryeme RasulAllah* ve ma kateluhu ve ma salebuhu ve lakin shubbihe lehum* ve innelleziynahtelefu fiyhi lefiy shekkin minhu, ma lehum Bihi min ilmin illettiba’az zann* ve ma kateluhu yakiyna;

 And for saying, “We killed the Rasul of Allah, Jesus, the son of Mary”… In truth, they neither killed nor crucified him, but it was made to appear to them so (the crucified one). Those who argue about this are in doubt of it; they have no certain knowledge about it, they only talk with assumptions. What is certain is that Jesus was definitely not killed! (A.Hulusi)

That they said (in boast), “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.”;- But they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- (A.Yusuf Ali)

Ve kavlihim inna katelnel Mesiyha ‘Iysebne Meryeme RasulAllah And for saying, “We killed the Rasul of Allah, Jesus, the son of Mary”. (Between parentheses we should add the meaning of claiming. Because if they really believed that Jesus is indeed a Rasul of Allah, they wouldn’t even try to do something like that.) They said, “We killed Jesus the Mesiah, son of Mary who claim to be the prophet of Allah.” They presented it like something to be proud of. They did a prophet slaughter and showed off like it was something to be proud of.

As you know according to Jews Jesus was a false prophet, a psycho among their ranks if I may. That’s what Jews have been believed.

ve ma kateluhu ve ma salebuhu ve lakin shubbihe lehum But they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them.

Now, this is something to be inspected. Funny thing is I should add. Jews have been saying that they killed Jesus and Christians have been believing that Jews really did cause Jesus’ death.

So Qur’an denies this historical false with a certain way. Correcting it fort he better. Qur’an denies this historical claim from get go. We should finish the verse and get back to this topic.

ve innelleziynahtelefu fiyhi lefiy shekkin minhu Those who argue about this are in doubt of it; that’s why they were in constant confusion. As in those who have claims of Jesus’ death, his crucifixiation, they had arguments even among them. They haven’t even found a common ground yet and settled their debates.

ma lehum Bihi min ilmin illettiba’az zann* they only talk with assumptions. ve ma kateluhu yakiyna What is certain is that Jesus was definitely not killed!

So my dear friends, where has this crufixiation story come from if Jesus hadn’t murdered, hanged or cricifixed. ve ma salebuhu word originally means hanging but in this case it’s a specific form of hanging named crucifixiation. It’s a serious question; if Jesus hadn’t murdered then what’s this crucifix story in Christianic history of religion. Also one of the biggest problem in their religion mentality. Qur’an denies the myth of crucifixiation, that’s for sure. And we check the 4 official Bibles to see how this origin story emerged.

Asa you now there were more than 400 Bibles presented in Nicaea Council. So the first council of Nicaes in 315 A.C. accepted 4 official Bibles among 300 acceptable Bibles. And the others were ordered to be burnt. What was in those Bibles that all had to be destroyed. Which truth they didn’t want their children to learn? And why did a selection process was needed to begin with, these have been the problems of Christianic Religion. Even today these questions should be answered.

What had they been declared heteredox, out of line. WQhy couldn’t even they preserved at least one copy for research purposes. But even today we sometimes stumble upon uncanonical, unofficial Bibles copies. Some of them survived from that time and we learn some different truths from them.

First of all, even we check the 4 Bibles we also see some interesting facts about crucifixiation myths. Both have contradictions with others. We might even say there totally different verses in each Bibles on this particular subject. Many contradictions surround the incidents of crucifixiation as well as resurrection of Jesus from grave. Also about the people who saw him after that. Some say one woman saw him, one says two, other says three. A bible says Mary of Necven saw him. Jesus once had done an exorcism to her. Not a normal person as the people go.

Also contradictions follow the concept of carrying the crucifix. One Bible says, Jesus carried his own crucifix, one says some other people did that. As we see not even two Bibles support each others claims. Allah knows what was in other Bibles.

But it’s not about false and totally inagreeable facts. There are some concepts that are accepted by all four Bibles too.

1-Execution squad of Jesus hadn’t known him. The soldiers who were tasked to kill Jesus hadn’t known who he was.

2-A traitor apostle named Judas, he was the one who  reported Jesus and disappeared right after that. This disappearance is told differently in Bibles. Most of them remain quiet about that. Only in Matta it is said that he hanged himself. With the silver he get from reporting Jesus he bought a field and hanged himself out of remorse. But like I said, most Bibles don’t have a comment on that.

Also Governor Platus, general of Rome and invasion army. According to some records as well as several Bibles governor was protecting Jesus. But Jews were insisting in their complains for Jesus’ murder. They really wanted him göne desperately even governor was defending him and saying that he didn’t deserve to die.

So when putting all we learn about this subject side by side, we reach a conclusion of this crucifix story was nothing but a myth.

We learn the insight and origin of this myth also from western socities. A western scholar named Lord Hadley was making an excavation in the years 1903-1904 in Iraq about the Assyrian civilixations. In his excavation he reveals some tablets regarding a religional myth.

When we compare that religion myth with the crucifixiation of Jesus, we don’t just see the similarities, we see that the entire incident is copied by that eras western civilizations. There are sects which deny the myth of crucifix entirely. For example, Keringli and Tatyanos sects as well as another sect that was created in an age known as karpakroti. They all deny the story of crucifixiation of Jesus.

Some modern age Christian scholars and writers have indications on Paulus for these stories. He was a denier at first, a dark Jesus enemy in fact, but after a while he became Christian. So there are some indications that Paul was the one who changed the Christianic mentality altogether, removing its core from the truth and covered it with the ideology of deitifying the original islamic facts. So this crucifixiation story might be one of his Works too. George Sale; a Qur’an translator, one of the people who translated Qur’an to english. Also Ernest Dodons (could be Renan) the author of the book “Real Christianism. These are the scholars who share this notion about this subject.

So like we said, when we put them side by side, we see that the story of crucifixiation doesn’t really hold up. But when we check the Qur’an about this subject the real truth comes with the form of total rejection as this this incident never happened. But ve lakin shubbihe lehum it was made to appear to them so.

There are rumors that supports and fills the blanks of the stories in Matta Bible. It is said that Judas, the traitor apostle who reported Jesus was hanged instead of him. Because the death squad hadn’t known Jesus’ identity. That’s why a Jew said, “Whoever I kiss from his forehead is Jesus, you should take him.” This part we have this information from Bible itself. So there’s a problem in identity really.

But in the end we have no proof that Judas was hanged by crucifix instead of Jesus.

158-) Bel rafeahullahu ileyHI, ve kanAllahu Aziyzen Hakiyma;

On the contrary, Allah raised him to Himself! Allah is the Aziz, the Hakim. (A.Hulusi)

Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;- (A.Yusuf Ali)

Bel rafeahullahu ileyHI On the contrary, Allah raised him to Himself!

We face another problem here when we read the piece of raising him to Allah. So to support their thesis some records found their ways to the collection of hadiths. According to them, Jesus will come back to earth, those who desperately want to prove the Messiah hypothesis Show this verse as a proof, trying to interpret that Jesus will come back just like the Christianix belief. But there’s no clear verse as well as s sentence which support the idea of Jesus rise to heavens with his body and everything. And the other way around there’s a sentence here saying;

Bel rafeahullahu ileyHI Allah raised him to his level. This Rafh here has the meaning of honoring someone, giving him a position, a title, it’s a form of raising someones value. We also see the same Word when we look at the Mary chapter verse 57, it is used there for prophet Idris too.

Ve refa’nahu mekanen aliyya; Mary/57

 This is an appraise, a honoring. In Ali Imran 55, we read. “I will raise those who follow you.” From this expression we understand that the raising verb here is all about a spiritual raising. We translated this verse before so we might repeat it as well.

..inniy muteveffiyke ve rafiuke ileyYE.. Alu Imran/55

We definitely will take your life and raise you to us. As in a death is an absolute fact. Even the expression of Muteveffike gain several other meanings throughout the translation history, Ibn Abbas gives the definite death as the original meaning.

Other translations including Taberi and Ibn Cureyc among the Tabiin translators see the definition as a spiritual raising as well. But somehow this pattern found its way to Islamic hadith collections. This pattern is a part of Christianic mythology, it doesn’t belong to any Islamic knowledge. But in many hadiths we see the references and resemblances. These specific hadiths should be treated very carefully and the paths which they used to enter Islamic methodogy should be inspected. But when we inspect the situation with Qur’an, we see no verse, no sentence, no hint that Jesus’ body raised to heavens and one day he will return to earth like that. This is against Allah’s sunnet to begin with.

We have no right to say the final Word on such a delicate subject. Allah knows best and Allah has power over all things. But we should treat Allah’s verses with respect and try to translate their meanings within the boundries of Allah’s law of nature.

ve kanAllahu Aziyzen Hakiyma; Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

159-) Ve in min ehlil Kitabi illa le yu’minenne Bihi kable mevtihi, ve yevmel kiyameti yekunu aleyhim shehiyda;

And there is no one who complied with the knowledge of the reality (in the past) who did not believe in him (his teachings) at the moment of death! He will be a witness against them during the Doomsday period. (A.Hulusi)

And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them;- (A.Yusuf Ali)

Ve in min ehlil Kitabi illa le yu’minenne Bihi kable mevtihi And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death.

This verse really needs further explanation since it have both literal and alternative meanings. Alternative meaning has a better sense to explain the verse deeply, I believe. There’s none of the People of the Book but must believe in Jesus’ born and creations truth. As in there’s none of the People of the Book but must believe in the truths about Jesus. Every person who born will die someday and every person must understand that he will taste death someday.

So why the people of the Book. I mean everyone will and should understand but why especially people of the book. Because the reason to include people of the book is to maket hem realize the real immortality of Jesus, more specifically the special nature of prophethood. Those who are in belief one Jesus’ return one day, Allah’s sunnet, law of nature doesn’t break;  ..velen tecide li sunnetillahi tahvila.. Fatir/43. Qur’an informs us that every creation should and bound to follow the law of sunnet.

To create other explanations some translators puts this meaning forward as an alternative. People who were alive and denied Jesus, people who knew him back then, they will believe that Jesus was indeed a real prophet. This is the other meaning if you take it from that perspective.

ve yevmel kiyameti yekunu aleyhim shehiyda and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them. This second part of the verse nullifies the last meaning I gave, the one of some translators choose to follow. Because if people were really in belief of Jesus’ prophethood, why should he be a witness against them. So this should be the meaning that we understand and accept.It’s not the belief, actual belief that release them from the responsibility. It’s only about seeing the law of nature and believe what they only saw.

160-) Fe Bi zulmin minelleziyne hadu harremna aleyhim tayyibatin uhillet lehum ve Bi saddihim an sebiylillahi kesiyra;

 We made many lawful bounties unlawful for them (the Jews), because of their wrongdoing and for preventing others from realizing their essential reality! (A.Hulusi)

For the iniquity of the Jews We made unlawful for them certain (foods) good and wholesome which had been lawful for them;- in that they hindered many from Allah’s Way;- (A.Yusuf Ali)

Fe Bi zulmin minelleziyne hadu harremna aleyhim tayyibatin uhillet lehum For the iniquity of the Jews elleziyne hadu is better understood if we say people who become Jewminded, I say this version has a better meaning in it. We made unlawful for them certain foods and wholesome which had been lawful for them.

Actually the footnote I gave explains the verse perfectly. Because back then they weren’t in becoming Jewminded. They were muslim sons of Israel, but they turned Jews. So We made restriction on certain things which were lawful fort hem before.

ve Bi saddihim an sebiylillahi kesiyra; Sadde can be used as both passive and active. As in they can be used as a need and the culprit in Arabic language. That’s why it’s best to translate the sentence with both meanings. The reason of it because they were frequently going astray from Allah’s path and turning other from that path too.

161-) Ve ahzihimur riba ve kad nuhu anhu ve eklihim emvalenNasi Bil ba’til* ve a’tedna lil kafiriyne minhum azaben eliyma;

This (act of making things unlawful) was because they partook in usury even though it was forbidden to them and they unjustly consumed the property of others. And We have prepared severe suffering for those who persist in denying the reality. (A.Hulusi)

That they took usury, though they were forbidden; and that they devoured men’s substance wrongfully;- We have prepared for those among them who reject faith a grievous punishment. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Ve ahzihimur riba ve kad nuhu anhu That they took usury, Qur’an gives us the answers now. ve eklihim emvalenNasi Bil ba’til* they unjustly consumed the property of others. ve a’tedna lil kafiriyne minhum azaben eliyma We have prepared for those among them who reject faith a grievous punishment.

162-) LakinirRasihune fiyl ilmi minhum vel mu’minune yu’minune Bi ma unzile ileyke ve ma unzile min kablike vel mukiymiynes Salate vel mu’tunez Zekate vel mu’minune Billahi vel yevmil ahir* ulaike senu’tiyhim ecren aziyma;

Those among them who have attained depth in knowledge and the believers, believe in what was revealed to you as well as what was revealed before you. Those who perform their salat and give zakat and believe in Allah and the eternal life to come based on the meaning signified by the letter ‘B’… We will give them a great reward. (A.Hulusi)

But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what hath been revealed to thee and what was revealed before thee: And (especially) those who establish regular prayer and pay Zakat (regular charity) and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: To them shall We soon give a great reward. (A.Yusuf Ali)

LakinirRasihune fiyl ilmi minhum Qur’an never wipes everone out, always picks the different ones. Like seperating rices from Stones. It doesn’t throw the entire bag of rice just because it has stones in it. Or it doesn’t cook the whole batch and force people to eat it with blessing. It teaches us a perspective, a lifestyle.

And we see the seperation here. There has been real believers and religious people among Jews and Qur’an says this for them.

LakinirRasihune fiyl ilmi minhum Those among them who have attained depth in knowledge vel mu’minune yu’minune Bi ma unzile ileyke ve ma unzile min kablike and the believers, believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed before you vel mukiymiynes Salate Those who perform their salat lively. This is important. People who do their prayers as consciously as ever.

I said especially. But there’s no expression regarding that meaning in verse. It’s hidden. The form of  mukiymiyne however can be taken as the active form if we follow the normal stream of the verse. It should be read as el mukiymuyne for that.

 So why then the other form took place. Some people took it as Qur’ans selection error. But I believe this comment is more true. Basra and Sibeveyh as in the ecole of Basra, the great linguistic experts, Sibeveyh in particular connect this concept to a rule in Arabic language. It’s to get extra attention, sometimes the sentence takes in a passive form to create a contrast. Like, “O, and those who make their prayers alive, fit.!” Zemahsheri and Razi also support this meaning and form.

 Ibn Mesut also took notes in his studies and I should deliver it to you now. It is read as el mukiymuyn since Qur’an has several examples on this regard. Like in Taha/63 ..inne hazani le sahirani.. The proverb Inne is used the following of hazeyni. It should be taken as Le sahireyn but for the same reason hazan le sahirani takes a valid form there too.

 Again in Al-Baqarah es sabiriyn is used where the form of Es sabirun should be used. So there are several other explanations for that.

vel mu’tunez Zekate and pay Zakat, vel mu’minune Billahi vel yevmil ahir* and believe in Allah and in the Judgement Day ulaike senu’tiyhim ecren aziyma; To them shall We soon give a great reward.

163-) Inna evhayna ileyke kema evhayna ila Nuhin ven Nebiyyiyne min ba’dih* ve evhayna ila Ibrahiyme ve Isma’iyle ve Ishaka ve Ya’kube vel Esbati ve ‘Iysa ve Eyyube ve Yunuse ve Harune ve Suleyman* ve ateyna Davude Zebura;

We have revealed to you just as We had revealed to Noah and the Nabis after him… And We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron and Solomon… We gave David the book of Psalms (Zabur; the knowledge of wisdom). (A.Hulusi)

We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Inna evhayna ileyke kema evhayna ila Nuhin ven Nebiyyiyne min ba’dih And now at the end of the passage, we are given a round up by Qur’an about prophethood. It says, We have sent you inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him.

Here the point is all about the unity and constancy of prophethood institution. I also want to point out a small nuance. Some translators indicate that Noah is the first prophet designated to invite people, they show this verse as a proof, one opinion of course.

The vahy word in the verse has a literal meaning of rushing or whispering. In Qur’an it is also used as animal instincts so we can consider this meaning as animal instincts are also the vahy of Allah.

Vahy means communicating someone or something with methods others than speaking with tongue. Qur’an uses with this meaning too.

 For Zachariah A.S, he was ordered to make a silence fasting, he was committed to that and did his fasting. But when he was in fasting, as in a silence vow, he should have a way to communicate with other people like signs. ..feevha ileyhim en sebbihu bukreten ve ashiyya.. Mary/11. Zachariah vahy (tell them with signs) to zikr Allah day and night. Same vahy Word is used as a sign language here. It can easily be understood here that even sign language is a way to deliver a message without using verbal ways.

 In Enam/112, same word is used as chaos. It is mentioned Satan’s vahy. Satan uses nonverbal methods to give chaotic thoughs and suggestions to people.

ve evhayna ila Ibrahiyme ve Isma’iyle ve Ishaka ve Ya’kube vel Esbati ve ‘Iysa ve Eyyube ve Yunuse ve Harune ve Suleyman* ve ateyna Davude Zebura; we sent (vahy) inspiration to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon,

ve ateyna Davude Zebura; and to David We gave the Psalms.

Psalms is mentioned seperately in Qur’an since it has a difference from other inspirations. Psalms is a verse group that comes forward with its literal poetic nature, so it is used differently. In Old Tastement we see them as Mezmur. Some parts of Mezmur is given to other people as well so in Tora as we see Old Testament we can identify the Psalms parts that are given to David. It feels different, obvious, carries the marks of revelations.

164-) Ve Rusulen kad kasasnahum aleyke min kablu ve Rusulen lem naksushum aleyk* ve kellemAllahu Musa tekliyma;

We have also revealed (to Rasuls) whose stories We have related to you or have not related to you… Allah spoke to Moses word by word. (A.Hulusi)

Of some messengers We have already told thee the story; of others We have not;- and to Moses Allah spoke direct;- (A.Yusuf Ali)

Ve Rusulen kad kasasnahum aleyke min kablu ve Rusulen lem naksushum aleyk Of some messengers We have already told you the story; of others We have not. We continue.

ve kellemAllahu Musa tekliyma; and to Moses Allah spoke directly.

Why is Moses mentioned seperately here. You may understand this, now that we talked about revelations by inspirations. All prophets had taken their verses with vahy way, as in non-verbal ways. But with Moses Allah had spoken directly. Rabb of All Worlds chose to deliver the truth in a different way to Moses. That’s why the nature of the truth delivered to Moses is mentioned differently here. Just like Psalms and David was mentioned differently before.

165-) Rusulen mubeshriyne ve munziriyne liella yekune linNasi alellahi huccetun ba’der rusul* ve kanAllahu Aziyzen Hakiyma;

We sent Rasuls as bringers of glad tidings and as warners so that mankind will have no argument against Allah after these Rasuls (the knowledge they provide)! Allah is the Aziz, the Hakim. (A.Hulusi)

Messengers who gave good news as well as warning, that mankind, after (the coming) of the messengers, should have no plea against Allah. For Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Rusulen mubeshriyne ve munziriyne Messengers who gave good news as well as warning liella yekune linNasi alellahi huccetun ba’der rusul so that mankind will have no argument against Allah after these Rasuls.

The reason of arrival for Messengers. So that mankind won’t have an argument when the time comes. In Taha/34 this idea is detailed further. Rasulallah repeated this truth final time in his last talk so that his community won’t have any argument too.

Ela hel bellagt, Did I deliver?

He had asked this “Did I deliver? Question with the burden of its weight, with the agony of a heavy responsibility and witht he anxiety of fullfilling a duty. People responded;

-You did, O Rasulallah. After that answer Rasulallah looked at heavens and said; “Rabbena Feshed.” “Be witness, My Rabb.”

This was a love of duty. Also the responsibility. This feeling is reminded us here.

ve kanAllahu Aziyzen Hakiyma; For Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

166-) Lakinillahu yeshedu Bi ma enzele ileyke enzelehu Bi ilmiHI, vel Melaiketu yeshedun* ve kefa Billahi shehiyda;

But Allah bears witness to that which He revealed to you, He has revealed it to you as the knowledge of HU. The angels (the forces pertaining to this revelation; Gabriel) also bear witness to this fact. Sufficient for you is Allah as a witness. (A.Hulusi)

But Allah beareth witness that what He hath sent unto thee He hath sent from His (own) knowledge, and the angels bear witness: But enough is Allah for a witness. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Lakinillahu yeshedu Bi ma enzele ileyke enzelehu Bi ilmiHI But Allah bears witness to that which He revealed to you. As in, people will bear witness to you, but also Allah will be your witness on which He revealed to you. What gain can you have, if people stand witness for you? What loss can you suffer if they deny. You are under the protection and witnessy of Allah. Allah knows that you are the one who take revelations, you have Allah on your side, what else can you need beyond that? This is what’s been told to Rasulallah.

This reminds me of another verse.

Felenes’elennelleziyne ursile ileyhim velenes’elennel murseliyn Araf/6

We will ask to the communities which had been blessed with revelations. This prophet, this scholar, had he done his duties? Did he deliver the truth to you without hiding it, warping it, distorting it? And then we will turn to the one who was tasked to deliver the truth and we will ask. “What was their reaction when you deliver them the truth, when you tell them about the right? “Semi’na ve ata’na” we heard and we obeyed. Did they tell you this or did they tell something else like sons of Israel who became Jewminded “semi’na ve asayna.” We heard and we rebelled. Did they turn their backs to you? Or did they take what was to their benefit and threw out the rest. We will ask these questions.

vel Melaiketu yeshedun* The angels also bear witness to this fact ve kefa Billahi shehiyda; Sufficient for you is Allah as a witness.

167-) Innelleziyne keferu ve saddu an sebiylillahi kad dallu dalalen be’iyda;

Those who deny the reality and prevent others from the way of Allah have gone far astray. (A.Hulusi)

Those who reject Faith and keep off (men) from the way of Allah, have verily strayed far, far away from the Path. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Innelleziyne keferu ve saddu an sebiylillahi Those who reject Faith and keep off mpeople from the way of Allah kad dallu dalalen be’iyda they have verily strayed far, far away from the Path.

168-) Innelleziyne keferu ve zalemu lem yekunillahu li yagfire lehum ve la liyehdiyehum tariyka;

 Indeed Allah will neither forgive nor open a path (of understanding) for those who deny the reality and who do wrong. (A.Hulusi)

Those who reject Faith and do wrong,- Allah will not forgive them nor guide them to any way- (A.Yusuf Ali)

Innelleziyne keferu ve zalemu lem yekunillahu li yagfire lehum Those who reject Faith and do wrong,- Allah will not forgive them ve la liyehdiyehum tariyka nor guide them to any way.

Interesting isn’t it, how Allah’s blessing matches up directly with the humans actions. This is a perfect example for that. Innelleziyne keferu Those who reject Faith. This is how it begins. ve la liyehdiyehum tariyka nor guide them to any way. And this is how it ends. Allah won’t show any salvation to people who resist on denial. A mans behaviour sets the tone of Allah’s reaction to him. You are the definer of your relation with Allah. One is not independent from another. This verse gives us this frame perfectly. How human-Allah relations are based on actions and reactions.

169-) Illa tariyka cehenneme halidiyne fiyha ebeda* ve kane zalike alellahi yesiyra;

 Except for the path of hell (the understanding that leads to a life of hell)! They will abide therein eternally. This is easy for Allah. (A.Hulusi)

Except the way of Hell, to dwell therein for ever. And this to Allah is easy. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Illa tariyka cehenneme Except for the path of hell. halidiyne fiyha ebeda They will abide therein eternally. ve kane zalike alellahi yesiyra. This is easy for Allah.

170-) Ya eyyuhen Nasu kad caekumur Rasulu Bil Hakki min Rabbikum feaminu hayren lekum* ve in tekfuru feinne Lillahi ma fiys Semavati vel Ard* ve kanAllahu Aliymen Hakiyma;

O mankind, the Rasul has come to you from your Rabb in Truth! So believe in what is good for you! If you deny, know that whatever is in the heavens and the earth is for Allah (for the manifestation of the qualities denoted by the Names of Allah). Allah is the Aleem, the Hakim. (A.Hulusi)

O Mankind! The Messenger hath come to you in truth from Allah. believe in him: It is best for you. But if ye reject Faith, to Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth: And Allah is All-Knowing, All- Off wise. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Ya eyyuhen Nasu O Mankind! The speechs target widens to all humanity here. No specific belief or religion from that point on. All humanity is targeted for this verse. Not a single individual is left out. All the way to Australia’s aborgenes to Guatemala’s indians. This is the message. Ya eyyuhen Nasu O Mankind! kad caekumur Rasulu Bil Hakki min Rabbikum The Messenger has come to you in truth from Allah. feaminu hayren lekum So believe in what is good for you. If you Show faith toe the message that prophet has given to you, it will be best for you.

ve in tekfuru feinne Lillahi ma fiys Semavati vel Ard If you deny, know that whatever is in the heavens and the earth is for Allah. As in you belong to Allah. In fact your denial of Allah, denial of the messages from Allah is your own self confliction. It’s denial of your own very beings. Denial of your existences. Can you find another creator for yourselves then? You need Allah. You are only but one thing among the infinite things that Allah possesses on heavens and on earth. That’s why you should realize what you really deny.

ve kanAllahu Aliymen Hakiyma; And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

171-) Ya ehlel Kitabi la taglu fiy diynikum ve la tekulu alellahi illel Hakk* innemel Mesiyhu ‘Iysebnu Meryeme Rasulullahi ve KelimetuHU, elkaha ila Meryeme ve ruhun minHU, fe aminu Billahi ve RusuliHI, ve la tekulu selasetun, intehu hayren lekum* innemAllahu ilahun vahid* subhaneHU en yekune leHU veled* leHU ma fiys Semavati ve ma fiyl Ard* ve kefa Billahi Vekiyla;

O those to whom the knowledge of the reality has come… Do not exceed the requirements of religion and transgress… Do not utter things that are not true about Allah… Jesus, the son of Mary, is only a Rasul of Allah and His Word… He has formed the manifestation of this quality through Mary, and he is a meaning (spirit) from Him (His Beautiful Names)… So believe in Allah, the essence of all things with His Names, and His Rasuls… And do not say “Three” (the Father, the Son, the Spirit)! End this; it is better for you… Allah is the One and Only (the only One who has Uluhiyyah)… HU is Subhan from the concept of having a child! Whatever is in the heavens and the earth is for Him… Sufficient for you is Allah as Wakil, your essential reality with His Names. (A.Hulusi)

O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not “Three (Trinity)” : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One God. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. (A.Yusuf Ali)

 Ya ehlel Kitab O People of the Book! We can understand from here that the targeted group in this verse is that the people who believe in Bible. Because Christians and Christianic mentality is the theme of this verse. To be specific it’s Ve laddaaalliyn part in Fatihah where we pray as don’t make us go astray like those become Christianic Mindeds. This verse is all about them.

 Like I said before, sons of Israel who became Jewminded, sons of Israel who was Muslims before but then corrupted and casted out their prophets, murdered them, stoned them to death to throw them out of their lifes. But Christians or muslims in that mentality deitified their prophets, turning them into a god figure and pulled them out of their lives in this way. Now Qur’an wants us to pay attention to this second group, second mistake.

la taglu fiy diynikum ve la tekulu alellahi illel Hakk Do not exceed the requirements of religion and transgress… Do not utter things that are not true about Allah.

innemel Mesiyhu ‘Iysebnu Meryeme Rasulullahi ve KelimetuHU, elkaha ila Meryeme ve ruhun minHU Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him. A living being.

The “Word” word comes in the verse. In his great piece, Ibn-ul Cini lays out all the combinations comes from the letters of ke-le-me, ke-me-le, me-le-ke, le-ke-me, me-le-ke, le-me-ke. All these roots have one thing in common and that is the greatness with power.

In Qur’an it’s not the Bible that is taken as the Christianic religionhood. Bible is the biography of Jesus, his life story. No in Christianic religionhood, the match of Qur’an is the Prophet Jesus himself. It’s word. The revelation of Allah that takes the form of human. As in the promise of Allah. That’s why Taberi translates the word like this. As a declaration, given to angels for delivering it to Mary.

elkaha ila Meryeme ve ruhun minHU and His Word, His promise which He bestowed on Mary,

 In Secde/9 where the stage of evolution in humans creation, there’s a part mentioning the Spirit. Also at this point in this verse the we see ve ruhun minHU A spirit from him. And in Secde/9 we see the part ..ve nefeha fiyhi min ruhiHI.. (describing the creation of mankind) and Allah blow from His spirit.

 So if we based on the facts that even Jesus told their followers which deitified him, that his prophets were humans too, it makes easier to understand the targeted group in this verse. We understand that instead of taking the words and expressions in supernatural ways, we should look at them with their general, literal meanings. Because this verse addressess to those who deitify Jesus and make hima a supernatural being. We can and should take the spirit here and match the meaning with the spirit in Secde/9 verse. Allah of Allah Worlds wants us to notice that Jesus like all humans is a life like all people. Like Rasulallah’s warning.

 -Don’t make a extraordinary and make me flying like they did for Jesus, son of Mary. I’m but a worshipper and Rasul of Allah. Call me a worshipper and Rasul of Allah.

Rasulallah was saying, don’t make me flying. Don’t turn me into a supernatural being. There were two distinct path in Islamic corruptions. One follows the path of degrading Rasulallah like sons of Israel who became Jewminded have done. We may see the projections of that strong current. THe path against it is the Christianic mentality which turned Rasulallah into something more than he was; making him a deity and trying to make him flying. So Rasulallah’s ageless words, his out of bound from time advice to these two different paths followers is this. Don’t do these to me. I’m his worshipper and his Rasul. As in to those who deitify me, I’m his worshipper and to those who degrade me, I’m his Rasul. It’s like a two pathed answer to both sides.

fe aminu Billahi ve RusuliHI, ve la tekulu selasetun, so believe in Allah and His messengers. Don’t say, “Three”. The rejection of Trinity is mentioned in this section.

Trinity; as in Father, Son and Holy Spirit is a foundation which the Christianic Religion based upon. It may also be called the three elements. But also it’s the biggest problem in the same methodology. Since the situation surrounding the trinity idea is the most impossible and mosrt confusing among all the religion expexts. Actually this situation still cannot be resolved by Christianic religioon experts to this day. That’s why most happenings take this topic as a taboo and look at it as a dogma or a postulat, forbidden to talk even think about. Because it cannot be understood, it cannot be comprehended. It cannot be sit on a logical basis. How can 3 be 1?

There are several christianic experts that try to explain this situation more specifically as well as more obscure. For example, one of the three elements is the source. That’s the father. A being. As in the first is the father as a starting point. Son is the knowledge and spirit is the life. This is a translation of course, a tev’il of a sort.

But if we look further deeply, we see that this mentality wasn’t first born when the first muslims of Jesus became christianic minded. We see the mischief seeds of Paul again here. Because we come across a very particulat Hindu belief. Somewhat have uncanny resemblence with trinity idea. Tri Marki is the name in old Hindu. As in 3 uklum, 3 elements. Brahma as the father, Vishnu as the son and Shiva as the Holy Spirit. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. This hindu belief was transported to Christianism and become Father, Son and Holy Spirit idea.

It can be seen in ancient Egypt with the name of Hermes Trismegistus. As in 3 Tot. Tot is the Fenicean name of Taghut which was tranferred to Arabic as Tagut. That’s why it’s 3 tots, 3 gods. Three elements of god, is one way to read it. In some diggings on Memphis old capitol of ancient Egypt, 80 Km to Cairo of today there were tablets found which describes this three main elements.

Most of old pagan beliefs have trinity mentality somewhere. That’s why the idea of Trinity cannot be made up by the first people of Jesus’ community. It’s just like the myth of Crucifixiation. Crucifix is a symbol and not a Christianic one at that. Many people are familiar with the Ankh of Egypt Symbol. We can see it in many films as well as the acutal figures of pharaohs holding that round topped crucifix symbols in Egypt Etnography Museum. It’s an open fact that can be seen today by anyone.

So what we should undestand from these verses is this, dear friends.

If you don’t take your beliefs seriously, if you value your faiths with all due respect less than your underwears, if you don’t take your religion seriously and protect your beliefs from superstition, if you don’t give the attention to your faiths not more that choosing your garments; at the end you begin to believe all those pagan nonsense as “These are from Allah.” This is the message given to Muslims here.

intehu hayren lekum It is in your best interest to end this.

innemAllahu ilahun vahid* for Allah is One. subhaneHU en yekune leHU veled*: (far exalted is He) above having a son.  leHU ma fiys Semavati ve ma fiyl Ard* To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. ve kefa Billahi Vekiyla And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

172-) Len yestenkifel Mesiyhu en yekune abden Lillahi ve lel Melaiketul Mukarrebun* ve men yestenkif an ibadetiHI ve yestekbir fe seyahshuruhum ileyHI cemiy’a;

Neither the Messiah (Jesus) nor the great angels will disdain from being a servant to Allah! And whoever disdains from serving Him and is arrogant, He will gather them all unto Himself. (A.Hulusi)

Christ disdaineth not to serve and worship Allah, nor do the angels, those nearest (to Allah): those who disdain His worship and are arrogant,-He will gather them all together unto Himself to (answer). (A.Yusuf Ali)

Len yestenkifel Mesiyhu en yekune abden A truth is revealed here above the limits of time and space. Christ Jesus doesn’t disdain to serve and worship Allah, Lillahi ve lel Melaiketul Mukarrebun nor do the angels.

Why do angels come into picture now. Because some people deitify angels too. The message is a total one here as those whom you give the position of gods in your minds don’t like that. You cannot blame them, if they have a chance they won’t hesitate to spit on your faces. They will hold you responsible for your action. Some beings who is deitified curse those who see them that way. They won’t be content with them.

ve men yestenkif an ibadetiHI ve yestekbir fe seyahshuruhum ileyHI cemiy’a those who disdain Allah’s worship and are arrogant, Allah will gather them all together unto Himself to answer.

 173-) Feemmelleziyne amenu ve amilus salihati fe yuveffiyhim ucurehum ve yeziyduhum min fadliHI, ve emmelleziynestenkefu vestekberu feyu’azzibuhum azaben eliymen, ve la yecidune lehum min dunillahi veliyyen ve la nasiyra;

 As for those who believe and fulfill the requirements of their faith, He is going to give their rewards in full and grant them more from His bounty… But those who disdain and are arrogant, He is going to punish them with a great suffering… And they will not be able to find a friend or a helper for themselves besides Allah. (A.Hulusi)

But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will give their (due) rewards,- and more, out of His bounty: But those who are disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a grievous chastisement; Nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Feemmelleziyne amenu ve amilus salihati As for those who believe and fulfill the requirements of their faith,

As does Qur’ans double sided perspective nature, now spotlights are turned to those with the good, the fate of good is given here.

fe yuveffiyhim ucurehum Allah will give their due rewards ve yeziyduhum min fadliHI and as more Allah will grant them more from His bounty. It won’t be just their actions rewards given to them. Their bounty will be from Allah. Allah will bless them.

ve emmelleziynestenkefu vestekberu feyu’azzibuhum azaben eliymen, But those who disdain and are arrogant, He is going to punish them with a great suffering… ve la yecidune lehum min dunillahi veliyyen ve la nasiyra; And they will not be able to find a friend or a helper for themselves besides Allah.

And now the speech turns to a general direction here. All humanity is addressed after this point.

 174-) Ya eyyuhenNasu kad caekum burhanun min Rabbikum ve enzelna ileykum nuren mubiyna;

 O mankind! There has truly come to you a proof (the articulation of the truth; Muhammad saw)… We have revealed a clear Nur (light of knowledge) to you (the Quran). (A.Hulusi)

O mankind! Verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from your Lord: For We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Ya eyyuhenNasu O mankind! kad caekum burhanun min Rabbikum There has truly come to you a proof. The proof of truth is before here in front of you. ve enzelna ileykum nuren mubiyna For We have sent unto you a light.

Those whose conscience haven’t covered can percieve this light. Remember, two things are required to see. Two things. One, eye… You should have the organ to proces this light, hence the second thing, the light. If there’s no light, then your eyes have no use, you cannot see anything. Absence and presence of your eyes are measured with the light. But if there’s light around and you don’t have eyes, you also cannot see anything either. In this metaphor eye is a persons approach to Allah and light is Allah’s approach to a person. Eyes represent the worshipping nature of a man for his creator and light is the highness of Allah and His message.

175-) Feemmelleziyne amenu Billahi va’tesamu Bihi feseyudhiluhum fiy rahmetin minHU ve fadlin ve yehdiyhim ileyHI sıratan mustekiyma;

“As for those who believe in Allah, the essence of everything, and hold fast unto Him as their essential reality – HU will admit them to grace (rahmah) and bounty (the awareness of the qualities of the Names) and guide them to Himself (enable the observation of their innermost essence) on the straight path (sirat al-mustaqim).” (A.Hulusi)

Then those who believe in Allah, and hold fast to Him,- soon will He admit them to Mercy and Grace from Himself, and guide them to Himself by a straight way. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Feemmelleziyne amenu Billahi va’tesamu Bihi Then those who believe in Allah, and hold fast to Him feseyudhiluhum fiy rahmetin minHU ve fadlin Allah will admit them to Mercy and Grace from Himself, they will be treated with Mercy and Blessing of Allah. ve yehdiyhim ileyHI sıratan mustekiyma and guide them to Himself by a straight way.

This one is like the verse above, dear friends. I translated in previous page that was the menfi, negative and this is muspet, the positive. The constant nature of Allah-human relations. Verse starts with Feemmelleziyne amenu those who believe in Allah. So one might ask how can Allah guide these people to tru path if they are already on it? Hey they are and have been guided. If you make a move, you will be treated with a counter-move whether it’s negative or positive.

This is another explanation on the reciprocity of human Allah relations.

176-) Yesteftunek* kulillahu yuftiykum fiyl kelaleh* inimruun heleke leyse lehu veledun ve lehu uhtun feleha nisfu ma terek* ve huve yerisuha in lem yekun leha veled* fe in kanetesneteyni felehumessulusani mimma terek* ve in kanu ihveten Ricalen ve nisaen felizzekeri mislu hazzil unseyeyn* yubeyyinullahu lekum en tadillu* vAllahu Bi kulli shey’in Aliym;

 They ask for an explanation – a judgment from you… Say, “Allah gives a ruling about one who has neither ascendants (parents) nor descendants (children) as heir: If a man dies and leaves no children but a sister, she will have half of what he has left… If a sister with no children dies, the brother will be the heir… If there are two sisters (of the deceased man) they will have two thirds of what he (their brother) left… If the siblings (the heirs) are brothers and sisters, then the male will have the share of two females”… Allah informs you so that you do not go astray… Allah is Aleem of all things, as their essential reality with His Names. (A.Hulusi)

They ask thee for a legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus) about those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs. If it is a man that dies, leaving a sister but no child, she shall have half the inheritance: If (such a deceased was) a woman, who left no child, her brother takes her inheritance: If there are two sisters, they shall have two-thirds of the inheritance (between them): if there are brothers and sisters, (they share), the male having twice the share of the female. Thus doth Allah make clear to you (His law), lest ye err. And Allah hath knowledge of all things. (A.Yusuf Ali)

Yesteftunek A different subject right after the general addressing ends. Actually the chapter closed the message but we understand that this verse had arrived far later than the others. Records support our claims on this one. So if you ask why this verse is put here, remember Rasulallah was the one who arrange the verses to their final places. That’s why this verse was put at the end of the chapter like a footnote by Rasulallah.If chapter arrangements hadn’t done in Rasulallah’s era and Cahiph Otto’s collection of Mushaf era, this particular verse was set aside with the other inheritance related verses. But the position of this single verse (and by the looks of it unrelated to the general message) indicates that it was put this position by Rasulallah.

It contains a verdict about inheritance. A verdict that hasn’t explained yet. There’s a reason of arrival fort his one but I’m passing it now.

They want you to explain. Yesteftunek* kulillahu yuftiykum fiyl kelaleh Allah gives you the explanation regarding kelale. Say. The subject of Kelale was a matter of many debates in fact it still has been. The meaning of Kelale is given to us by Caliph Omar with these words. “Rasulallah had passed away but three things remain unexplained. One of these three is kelale situation. More truly its content limits. In Abu Bekhirs opinion kelale is the one who gives away inheritance but he who have no children or parents to take that inheritance. Many scholars and Islamic community members give credit to Abu Bekhirs opinion. But we should keep in mind that there are other words about this kelale situation out there.

According to a hadith in Buhari this verse is the last arrived verse of Qur’an. There are other verses who carry this title too. But even this wasn’t the last one, it was surely one of the last verses arrived.

inimruun heleke leyse lehu veledun If a man dies without leaving a child behind ve lehu uhtun feleha nisfu ma terek and he has a sister to his inheritance, sister should have the half of the inheritance. The verdict is clear. Islamic scholars gives the note of this situation by saying that this sister should have the same parents with the deceased or the same father they should share. I should add this here.

ve huve yerisuha in lem yekun leha veled In case of a death on sister without haveing a child, brother (man) should have the entirety of the inheritance.

fe in kanet according to this verses explanation we take the Abu Bakhirs opinion, it’s the entire inheritance.

fe in kanetesneteyni felehumessulusani mimma terek but if there are two sisters, they should have two thirds of the inheritance. As in the deceased had no one but two sisters, he doesn’t have any parents or any children, only two sisters in this case sisters should have two thirds of the inheritance.

ve in kanu ihveten Ricalen ve nisaen felizzekeri mislu hazzil unseyeyn if there are brothers and sisters to take a share.In this case there are more than two people around. In this case te share of man should be the same amount of two sisters share. This sharing situation was studied at the beginning of the chapter. I believe it was the 32. Verse. We studied that subject in 32. Verse.

yubeyyinullahu lekum en tadillu* Allah informs you so that you do not go astray. vAllahu Bi kulli shey’in Aliym; Allah has knowledge of all things.

Yes dear friends. Like I said, this particular verse is put here after the completion of the chapter is done. But it necessity was essential to life so it has a place in Qur’an. We shouldn’t forget that Qur’an was sent doen into the life and Qur’an has the answer of any problem regarding life. That’s why I always say revelations don’t put people in tight spots. What they do? Verses saves humans and humanity from the tights corners they were stucked.

Verses are not the walls that people bang their heads to. On the contrary, they are the doors that are opened to further grounds. They are the thousand doors. If one enters by that doors the destinations of him are the happiness, joy and heavens.

“Ve ahiru davana velil hamdulillahi rabbil alemiyn” (Jonah/10) “Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds!” All products of our claims, causes and lives are for Allah and our last word to our Allah is “Hamd”.

“Esselamu aleykum.”
